A little rain couldn’t dampen the Halloween spirit in Lind tonight!

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office enjoyed joining kids and families for Trunk or Treat at Lind Elementary School. The weather didn’t cooperate enough for us to set up our Sheriff Office inflatable haunted tunnel, but we made the most of it! With most of the festivities moved into the gym, there were plenty of smiles, great costumes, and families having a wonderful time together.

Thank you to everyone who helps put this event on each year. Your hard work brings our community together and creates fun memories for local kids and families. We appreciate being part of it!

Have a safe and happy Halloween and a wonderful fall!

UPDATE: Train and Semi-Truck Injury Collision

The semi-truck driver, a Warden resident, was flown by Life Flight for medical treatment following the collision. The extent of the driver’s injuries is unknown at this time.

An Adams County Sheriff’s Office collision technician responded to investigate, with assistance from a Washington State Patrol commercial vehicle inspector. Investigators also collected surveillance footage from nearby businesses.

Preliminary information indicates the semi-truck was traveling above the speed limit and failed to obey posted signs requiring traffic to yield at the railroad crossing. The train was traveling at a slow speed.

The investigation remains ongoing. At this time, no criminal charges are pending, and investigators have not identified suspected criminal conduct.

We thank the responding emergency personnel, Life Flight, assisting agencies, and our dispatchers for their coordinated response. Our dispatchers play a vital role in getting help to the scene and ensuring responders have the information and resources they need.

Our thoughts are with the injured driver and their family.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and our Adams County deputies will be wearing pink badges throughout the month to show our support for those affected by breast cancer.

These badges carry a special meaning. We wear them to bring awareness, stand beside those facing breast cancer and their families, celebrate survivors, and remember those we have lost.

We know this disease has touched many families in our communities, including members of our own Sheriff’s Office family. To everyone facing this journey, please know you have our support.

We are proud to wear these badges as a reminder of hope, compassion, and the importance of supporting one another.

On October 7, 2026, at approximately 23:33 hours, deputies responded to the area of W Hampton Rd and S Reynolds Rd after receiving a report of a traffic hazard. The complainant advised the driver of a white Chevrolet Silverado was swerving across the roadway, while traveling with hazard lights activated.

Deputies located the vehicle on S Reynolds Rd and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.

The driver failed to yield to emergency lights and instead continued driving, turning west onto W Bench Rd. During the pursuit, the Chevrolet reached speeds exceeding 100 mph while continuing to swerve across the roadway. The drivers actions created a significant danger to the public and the passenger of the Chevrolet.

The pursuit continued east bound onto highway 26.

The vehicle eventually came to a stop in the 600 block of S Saddle Rd, where deputies conducted a felony stop.

28-year-old Pedro Guillermo Cruz-Sanchez of Othello was taken into custody and booked on the following charges:
• Attempting to Elude a Police Vehicle
• Reckless Driving
• Suspicion of Driving Under the Influence

Great work!!
