NEWS: The River Falls Police Department has completed its ongoing evaluation of Flock Safety's transparency, contractual practices, and customer support service. The result of that review is a plan to discontinue use of the cameras and technology system in full.

While the technology has contributed to investigative successes, Chief of Police Gordon Young has indicated that the internal review created a loss of confidence in Flock Safety as a service provider.

School is back in session, which means drivers in River Falls need to be alert for children and buses. The River Falls City Council recently authorized the installation of “School Bus Stop Ahead” signs at high-risk locations. Public Works staff began installing the signs this week, with the goal that these signs will help keep students safe.

If you see these signs, please give extra caution to pedestrians and buses. As a reminder, the fine for passing a school bus with its stop sign extended is $701.

New E-Bike & E-Scooter Guidelines for River Falls!
Thinking about cruising around town on an electric ride? The River Falls Police Department wants to make sure everyone stays safe and follows the rules of the road.
We’ve put together a handy E-Bike Safety Fact Sheet to help you understand the differences between Class 1, 2, and 3 e-bikes, electric dirt bikes, and e-scooters.
Key takeaways to remember:

* Know where to ride: Most e-bikes are welcome on bike lanes, paths, multi-use trails, and roads. Electric dirt bikes are restricted to private land with permission.
* Age requirements: Class 3 e-bikes require riders to be 16+. E-scooters have specific age and supervision rules for riders under 12.
* Safety first: Always wear a helmet, use a light at night, yield to pedestrians, and follow all traffic laws.

Check out the full chart below to see how your ride classifies! 👇

We have been made aware of someone claiming to be Investigator Ryan Miller, from the River Falls Police Department, calling citizens and asking them to return his call about "some personal matters I need to discuss with you."

If you get this message, please DO NOT call back the phone number that is left for you. If you think someone from the River Falls Police Department really needs to speak with you, make sure to look the number up yourself and call the one listed.
