It is with a heavy heart that the Third District Volunteer Fire Department announces the passing of Deputy Chief Derrick Kimball.
Deputy Chief Kimball faithfully served the Third District Volunteer Fire Department for 39 years and was a Life Member of the department.
Deputy Chief Kimball was much more than a fellow firefighter. He was a friend, a brother, and a member of our fire service family. Throughout his 39 years of service, he dedicated himself to our department, the fire service, and the community we proudly serve. His commitment, friendship, leadership, and contributions to Third District will forever remain a part of our department’s history and legacy.
Funeral services for Deputy Chief Kimball will be held on Tuesday, September 29th, at Garden of Memories, 4900 Airline Drive, in Metairie.
Visitation will be held from 1000 to 1300 hours, followed by the Funeral Mass at 1300 hours, with procession to his final resting place immediately following the Mass.
The Third District Volunteer Fire Department respectfully requests that any fire department wishing to participate in the static apparatus display arrive at Garden of Memories no later than 0900 hours.
The fire service is a family, and our family mourns the loss of one of our own. We ask that everyone keep Deputy Chief Kimball’s family, friends, and fellow firefighters in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Deputy Chief Derrick Kimball, thank you for 39 years of dedication, service, friendship, leadership, and brotherhood. Your service and legacy will never be forgotten.
Rest easy, Chief. We’ll take it from here.
