The weather forecast for the week-end is good so why not take in one of these hikes. This is a great way to enjoy the fall weather and scenery and maybe you will see some salmon coming up the creek to get back to the hatchery. It is an amazing experience.

Senior Fishing Derby wasn't the nicest day we ever had, but we had plenty of determined seniors that weren't going to let that stop them. They were here to catch fish and that is what they did. Thank You to the residents for wanting to participate in the Senior Fishing Derby 2026.
The Garrison Dam National Fish Hatchery Staff would like to express their gratitude to the many volunteers who did an outstanding job. We couldn't do these events without you.
We also want to "Thank the staffs" from each of the nursing homes. We know you go through a lot of extras to make this day possible for the residents. Until next year......Happy Fishing Dreams🐟

The Garrison Dam National Fish Hatchery and the Great Planers Trout & Salmon Club had a busy day on Saturday, September 12, 2026, helping individuals with physical disabilities enjoy a day of fishing. Although it was windy and a bit chilly, the anglers were determined to take home a memorable fish story. The event was filled with smiling faces and even a few belly laughs.
The Great Planers Trout & Salmon Club provided valuable assistance and prepared lunch for the anglers and volunteers. We also appreciate the North Dakota Game and Fish Department for allowing us to use the trout for this catch-and-release event. The trout will be stocked in North Dakota waters by the end of the week. The hatchery would also like to thank local volunteers Les Vietz, Irv Loeb, and George Ganje for their valuable assistance with this fishing derby.

Tasty Treat –Enjoy a tasty meal courtesy of the Douglas Sportsmen’s Club.
