EEDA staff, families and self-advocates participated in the 31st Annual Long Island Family Support Services Advisory Councils Legislative Advocacy Breakfast at the Huntington Hilton on Friday October 2, 2026. The breakfast provides an opportunity to inform legislators about the needs and accomplishments of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and the organizations that support them. NYS State, Nassau and Suffolk County Legislators were present. Speakers included Assemblywoman Jodi Giglio, NYS Senator Monica Martinez, NYS Assembly Minority Leader, Edward Ra, and OPWDD Executive Deputy Commissioner Dr John Barbuto.

We had such a great time celebrating our DSPs at the EEDA Cares Fair yesterday! Our community came together to support our DSPs, and DSPs left with prizes, gift cards, EEDA swag, and one lucky DSP took home our grand prize: a television! EEDA wouldn’t be possible without our DSPs. Thank you to everyone who helped us make this event a success, especially our vendors! It’s always a good day when the community comes together to let DSPs know how much we value them!

Come together for a fun-filled day at our EEDA Cares DSP Fair as we celebrate our DSPs, our community, and all the wonderful work they do! 🎪🎈

🚤 Riverhead’s annual Cardboard Boat Race took place on August 1 in downtown Riverhead on the Peconic waterfront. 🌊 EEDA is so proud of Kelly and Cale for rowing us to victory! 🏆🎉Kelly and Cale's success wouldn't have been possible without the efforts of the LEEP team—Susan, Hava, and Christine—who helped make their winning patriotic boat. 🇺🇸🚤 Kelly and Cale won the Grand National Regatta race, and they also won the Outlaw Race! 🥇🥇🙌🎊 We're EEDA proud! ❤️💙
