Highlighting one of the eighteen Exceptional Graduates from last month’s academic awards. Ariel Moreno from in is an academically driven person who is willing to take on rigor and go above and beyond to stand out. In high school, she chose to step out of her comfort zone and join the track and field team to find some community and experience something new. From the sport, she came to learn that trying something new can be uncomfortable, but in return, have a positive impact. At first she was looking forward to graduating, but as the date approaches, she wishes to stay. 👟

Highlighting one of the eighteen Exceptional Graduates from last month’s academic awards. Cassandra Caluag from in made an extraordinary science fair project that went on to state and won a plethora of recognitions. With no prior experience, she created an AI model that could classify different types of tumors from MRI scans.She saw the importance of an early diagnosis for tumors, specifically brain tumors, which drove her through the countless hours that she worked on the project. Starting from a low accuracy rate, her model went on to achieve a 98.8% accuracy! Cassandra plans to pursue a career in data science where she can research models that identify diseases with hopes to specifically target and aid marginalized communities. 📊🧠

Highlighting one of the eighteen Exceptional Graduates from April’s academic awards. Lila Deinhammer from in .official started volunteering at the Southwest Justice Center when she heard about the Youth Court program through her Mock Trial coach. The program encourages juveniles that have plead guilty of a school infraction to stand before a jury of their peers—their fellow students. Providing them an opportunity to speak and understand the judgement of the juvenile court. The goal is to steer these youth into recovery through a variation of resources.
Lila looks forward to the program every month, where she has served in every aspect of the court along with supporting the actual person undergoing trial. She believes that everyone deserves a second chance, which is why she will pursue a career in law. ⚖️
