Division 8 would like to say hail and farwell to Petty Officer Ries. Petty Officer Ries is leaving us to convert to the submarine community and by now has already started school. Good luck MM2!

The Navy Flight Simulator had a successful visit in the High Desert leaving a lasting impression. The schools visited were Victor Valley High School, Silverado High School, Oak Hills High School, and Sultana High School. Each school was grateful for the day of fun provided for by the Navy. Being overwhelmed with gifts of water bottles, t-shirts, lanyards, etcetera, this event will not be soon forgotten.

With the assistance of Future Sailors the events included the Flight Simulator ride, Football Toss, and the Pull-Up Challenge. Students were excited and looked forward to the challenges. Students who attended also admitted to having a very good time.

This event generated hundreds of referrals and created a great deal of interest in the United States Navy. When visiting the schools after the event was over lanyards could be seen around the necks of students, and coffee mugs in the hands of school administrators. Recruiters were all met with smiles and everyone asked when the Flight Simulator would return.

All in all the Flight Simulator visit was an amazing success and will aid in the recruiting efforts for years. This is a job well done for the Victorville Stations and Division 8.

A lot of exciting things are happening in Division 8.

First we would like to welcome NCC White as our new Leading Chief Petty Officer and LCDR Alvara as our new Division Officer.

We also would like to congratulate SH2 Cockrell and MM1 Phillips for becoming Lead Petty Officers. SH2 Cockrell is taking over NRS Redlands and MM1 Phillips will be leaving the division to become the LPO of NRS Temecula.

This month we also say farwell to NCC Branco, LS1 Rhoades, and DC1 Howard as they pursue their Navy careers away from NRD San Diego. We thank you for your hard work and wish you the best.
