🎃 Taking your furry friend along for trick-or-treat? 👻

Halloween can be fun for everyone—but there are a few spooky hazards to keep in mind for your pets!

🍫 Treats aren’t for pups! Many Halloween candies and treats are toxic to pets. If your dog eats something they shouldn’t, contact your veterinarian or the ASPCA Poison Control Center at (888) 426-4435.

👻 Costume check! Dressing up your pup? Make sure costumes don’t restrict movement or breathing, and avoid small pieces that could be swallowed.

🪪 May we see some ID? Microchips, collars and ID tags can help reunite lost pets with their families—especially when they’re dressed up and harder to recognize.

🎃 Boo! Watch the decorations! Keep pumpkins, candles, fake spider webs and other decorations safely out of paw’s reach.

🚪 Door duty! Trick-or-treaters coming and going can make pets nervous or create an opportunity for them to slip outside. Keep pets in a safe, secure area if needed.

🧸❤️ Sometimes, a hero comes from the most unexpected places!

This morning, Riverside’s very own Public Services employee, Kevin Miller, made a little one’s day brighter by rescuing a stuffie on the way to school. 🥹 The child's mom called this in and sent the photos taken of Kevin's act of kindness.

It may seem like a small act of kindness, but to a child, that stuffed animal means the world. Thank you, Kevin, for showing that heroes don’t always wear capes, sometimes they wear a City of Riverside employee badge! 💙
