Today is National Heat Awareness Day, a reminder to stay safe and protect yourself from the dangers of extreme heat. Whether you’re working outside, exercising or enjoying the sun, remember to stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and take frequent breaks in the shade.
Heat-related illnesses are serious, so take steps to prevent them by knowing the signs of heat exhaustion and heatstroke:
-Confusion, altered mental status, slurred speech
-Loss of consciousness (coma)
-Hot, dry skin or profuse sweating
-Seizures
-Very high body temperature
