The UCPD would like to make the UC Riverside Community aware of recent incidents occurring on the UCR campus involving a social media “influencer.” In these incidents, the individual has posed as a DoorDash or UPS delivery employee and entered classrooms during lectures to deliver items to professors. In several cases, the delivered items were intended to embarrass the recipient and contained sexually suggestive or inappropriate content.
At this time, UCPD does not believe the individual has any intent to physically harm anyone during these incidents; however, these disruptions can create an uncomfortable, vulnerable, and unsettling environment for faculty, staff, and students present at the time.
While the conduct itself may not currently constitute a criminal offense, UCPD requests that any personnel who experience or witness one of these disruptions immediately notify UCPD Dispatch at (951) 827-5222 while the incident is occurring. Timely reporting will assist UCPD in identifying the individual and advising him that his actions are disrupting University operations and may constitute a violation of California law.
These incidents are not isolated to the UCR campus and have reportedly occurred at multiple universities throughout Southern California. At this time, UCPD believes the subject’s actions are intended solely to generate social media attention.
Thank you for your awareness, cooperation, and continued diligence in assisting UCPD in maintaining a safe campus environment.
