This week’s Yiddish Puppet Storytime was a beautiful program between two worlds! ❤️ Thanks to UCSD literature professor, Ainsley Morse for introducing basic Yiddish words and letters to our families through the multi-lingual children’s book, “Beautiful Yetta” by Daniel Pinkwater. Our Spanish bilingual speakers in the audience excitedly helped Ainsley translate some words and it was so special to see them relate! We also want to give a huge thanks to Nicole Cloeren who taught kids how to make their puppets “fly” based on a beautiful Yiddish lullaby about a mother’s love. Peace-minded artwork displayed around the room was created by local artist, Arina Kirilina. Nicole accurately captured this program as a creative combination of thoughts, art, languages, communication and culture. We look forward to presenting our patrons with more thoughtful programs like this one!
