πŸ”₯ FIRE PREVENTION WEEK β€” DAY 7 πŸ”₯

πŸš’ FIRE PREVENTION DOESN’T END TODAY β€” SAFETY IS A YEAR-ROUND RESPONSIBILITY!

As Fire Prevention Week comes to a close, Central Fire β€” Battalion 1 wants to remind everyone that fire safety isn’t just something we think about for one week in October. It’s something we should practice every single day.

Throughout this week, we’ve shared important reminders about protecting our homes, families, and community. Now it’s time to put those lessons into action!

🚨 SMOKE & CARBON MONOXIDE ALARMS β€” Test your alarms regularly and make sure everyone recognizes the warning sounds.

🏠 HOME ESCAPE PLANS β€” Know two ways out of every room when possible, establish a meeting place, and practice your escape plan.

🍳 COOKING SAFETY β€” Never leave cooking unattended and keep combustible materials away from heat sources.

πŸ”₯ HEATING SAFETY β€” Keep anything that can burn at least 3 feet away from heating equipment and have heating systems properly maintained.

πŸ”Œ ELECTRICAL SAFETY β€” Avoid overloaded outlets, inspect electrical cords, and never ignore electrical warning signs.

β›½ GARAGE & OUTDOOR FIRE SAFETY β€” Store flammable materials properly, follow fire restrictions, and always use caution with open flames.

🚨 REMEMBER: IF A FIRE STARTS, GET OUT, STAY OUT, AND CALL 911!

πŸš’ OUR FINAL COMMUNITY CHALLENGE:

Let’s make fire prevention a commitment that lasts all year!

Before the day is over, we’re challenging every household in Fremont County to take a few simple steps:

βœ… Test your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.

βœ… Review and practice your family’s emergency escape plan.

βœ… Walk through your home and identify potential fire hazards.

βœ… Teach your children what to do in an emergency.

βœ… Check on an elderly neighbor, friend, or family member who may need assistance.

πŸ“± SHARE THIS POST AND CHALLENGE ANOTHER HOUSEHOLD TO DO THE SAME!

❀️ A MESSAGE TO OUR COMMUNITY

From all of us at Central Fire β€” Battalion 1, thank you for taking the time this week to learn, share, and practice fire prevention.

As firefighters, we train and prepare to respond when emergencies happen. But one of the greatest successes we can have is a fire that never starts, an emergency that never happens, and a family that never has to experience the devastation of losing their home or a loved one.

We can’t prevent every emergency, but together, we can reduce the risks.

Whether it’s checking on a neighbor, teaching a child about fire safety, or taking a few minutes to inspect your home, every action makes a difference.

Our mission doesn’t stop when Fire Prevention Week ends, and neither should our commitment to keeping Fremont County safe.

πŸš’ ONE COMMUNITY. ONE MISSION. FIRE SAFETY FOR EVERYONE.

Prevent Fires. Protect Families. Keep Our Community Safe.

Stay safe, Fremont County!

πŸ”₯ FIRE PREVENTION WEEK β€” DAY 6 πŸ”₯

β›½ GARAGE & FLAMMABLE MATERIAL SAFETY β€” PREVENT FIRES BEFORE THEY START!

Garages, workshops, and storage sheds are common places where flammable liquids, fuels, chemicals, and other combustible materials are stored.

Whether you’re working on vehicles, maintaining equipment, or preparing for the colder months, Central Fire wants to remind our community that proper storage and safe handling can prevent a devastating fire.

πŸ”₯ Store flammable liquids safely β€” Keep gasoline, diesel, and other fuels in approved, properly labeled containers.

β›½ Keep fuels away from ignition sources β€” Never store gasoline near heaters, pilot lights, sparks, or open flames.

🏠 Keep your garage and workshop clean β€” Remove unnecessary clutter, oily rags, cardboard, and other combustible materials.

🧯 Know where your fire extinguisher is located β€” Keep an appropriate extinguisher accessible and know how to use it safely.

🚫 Never use gasoline to start a fire β€” Gasoline vapors can ignite rapidly and cause serious injuries.

πŸ”Œ Use equipment safely β€” Turn off engines before refueling, and never operate generators or fuel-powered equipment inside garages or enclosed spaces.

🚨 REMEMBER: Gasoline vapors can travel to an ignition source and flash back, even when the source is several feet away.

If a fire starts and cannot be safely controlled, GET OUT, STAY OUT, AND CALL 911!

πŸš’ TODAY’S COMMUNITY CHALLENGE:

Take 10 minutes today to inspect your garage, workshop, or storage shed!

βœ… Check that gasoline and other flammable liquids are stored properly.

βœ… Move combustible materials away from heating equipment and ignition sources.

βœ… Clean up clutter and dispose of hazardous materials safely.

βœ… Make sure your family understands the dangers of flammable liquids.

Then take the challenge beyond your own home!

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦ Help a family member organize their garage safely.

🏠 Check on a neighbor who may need assistance identifying fire hazards.

πŸ“± Share this post and challenge another household to inspect their garage or workshop.

A few minutes of prevention today could save a home, protect a family, and prevent an emergency tomorrow.

Fire prevention doesn’t end at our front doors. By looking out for one another, we can help protect homes, businesses, and families throughout Fremont County.

πŸ”₯ FIRE PREVENTION WEEK β€” DAY 5 πŸ”₯

πŸ”Œβš‘ ELECTRICAL SAFETY β€” DON’T LET A SPARK TURN INTO A FIRE!

Electrical fires can happen when we least expect them. From overloaded outlets to damaged extension cords, everyday electrical hazards can quickly turn into dangerous situations.

Today, Central Fire is reminding our community that electrical safety starts with recognizing potential hazards before they become emergencies.

⚑ Avoid overloaded outlets β€” Never plug too many appliances into a single outlet or power strip.

πŸ”Œ Inspect electrical cords β€” Replace damaged, cracked, or frayed cords immediately.

πŸ”₯ Watch for warning signs β€” Flickering lights, unusual burning smells, sparking outlets, or outlets that feel hot may indicate an electrical problem.

🏠 Use extension cords safely β€” Extension cords are intended for temporary use, not permanent wiring.

⚑ Plug major appliances directly into wall outlets β€” Never use extension cords or power strips for refrigerators, microwaves, or space heaters.

🚫 Never run electrical cords under rugs or carpets β€” Damaged or overheated cords can create a serious fire hazard.

🚨 IF YOU NOTICE SIGNS OF AN ELECTRICAL FIRE: Do not use water on energized electrical equipment. If a fire starts, get everyone outside, stay out, and call 911.

πŸš’ TODAY’S COMMUNITY CHALLENGE:

Take 10 minutes today to inspect the electrical safety of your home!

Walk through your home and check outlets, power strips, extension cords, and electrical appliances for potential hazards.

Make sure your family understands the importance of electrical safety and knows what warning signs to look for.

Then take it one step further!

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦ Help a family member identify electrical hazards.

🏠 Check on an elderly neighbor who may need assistance inspecting their home.

πŸ“± Share this post and challenge your friends, family, and neighbors to make electrical safety a priority.

One damaged cord, one overloaded outlet, or one overlooked warning sign could change a family’s life forever.

Fire prevention isn’t just about protecting our own homes β€” it’s about looking out for one another and keeping our entire community safe.

πŸ”₯ FIRE PREVENTION WEEK β€” DAY 4 πŸ”₯

🏠 HEATING SAFETY β€” STAY WARM. STAY SAFE.

As temperatures begin to drop, furnaces, fireplaces, wood stoves, and space heaters start getting more use. Today, Central Fire is reminding everyone that a little preparation can help prevent a heating-related fire.

πŸ”₯ Keep anything that can burn at least 3 feet away from fireplaces, wood stoves, space heaters, and other heating equipment.
πŸ”₯ Never leave a portable space heater unattended or running while you sleep.
πŸ”₯ Plug space heaters directly into a wall outlet β€” never into an extension cord or power strip.
πŸ”₯ Have chimneys, fireplaces, and heating systems inspected and maintained.
πŸ”₯ Use a sturdy fireplace screen to help keep sparks inside the fireplace.
πŸ”₯ Never use your oven or stovetop to heat your home.
πŸ”₯ Make sure your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are working.

🚨 If you smell smoke, notice unusual burning odors, or see signs of a fire, get everyone outside and call 911.

πŸš’ TODAY’S COMMUNITY CHALLENGE:

Take 10 minutes today to check the heating equipment in your home.

Clear anything combustible from around heaters, check your smoke and CO alarms, and make sure everyone in your household understands how to safely use your heating equipment.

Then check on a neighbor, friend, or family member β€” especially someone who may need a little help preparing their home for colder weather.

Keeping our homes warm shouldn’t put our families at risk. Together, we can help keep our entire community fire safe.

πŸ”₯ FIRE PREVENTION WEEK β€” DAY 3 πŸ”₯

🍳 COOKING SAFETY β€” KEEP AN EYE ON WHAT YOU FRY!

The kitchen is one of the most common places for a fire to start in the home. It only takes a moment of distraction for a small cooking incident to turn into a serious emergency.

Today, Central Fire is reminding our community to stay alert and stay safe whenever you’re cooking.

πŸ”₯ Stay nearby β€” never leave cooking unattended.
πŸ”₯ Keep towels, paper, packaging, and other combustible materials away from the stove.
πŸ”₯ Keep children and pets at least 3 feet away from hot cooking areas.
πŸ”₯ When frying, grilling, or cooking with high heat, stay alert and keep a close eye on your food.
πŸ”₯ Don’t forget about food cooking in ovens, microwaves, air fryers, and other appliances.

🚨 IF A GREASE FIRE STARTS: Never pour water on it! If it is safe to do so, turn off the heat and cover the pan with a lid. If the fire is spreading or you are unsure β€” GET OUT, STAY OUT, AND CALL 911.

πŸš’ TODAY’S COMMUNITY CHALLENGE:

Take a few minutes today to look around your kitchen. Move anything that could burn away from your stove and talk with everyone in your household about cooking safety.

Then share this post with a neighbor, friend, or family member. One simple reminder could prevent a fire and protect a family in our community.

πŸ”₯ FIRE PREVENTION WEEK β€” DAY 2 πŸ”₯

🏠 HAVE A PLAN. KNOW TWO WAYS OUT.

If a fire started in your home tonight, would everyone know what to do and where to go?

During a fire, you may only have a short amount of time to escape safely. Having a plan before an emergency happens can make all the difference.

πŸšͺ Know two ways out of every room when possible.
πŸͺŸ Make sure doors and windows used for escape open easily and aren't blocked.
πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦ Make sure everyone in your household understands the escape plan.
πŸ“ Choose a meeting place outside where everyone knows to gather.
πŸš’ Once you're outside, STAY OUT β€” never go back inside a burning building.
πŸ“ž Call 911 from a safe location.

πŸš’ TODAY'S COMMUNITY CHALLENGE:

Take 10 minutes tonight and practice your home fire escape plan.

Walk through your home with your family. Find two ways out, choose your meeting place, and make sure everyone β€” especially children β€” knows exactly what to do if the smoke alarms sound.

Then check on a neighbor, friend, or family member and encourage them to make a plan too.

Fire safety starts at home, but protecting our community takes all of us.

Stay safe from all of us at Central Fire β€” Battalion 1! πŸš’πŸ”₯

DAY 1 β€” SMOKE & CARBON MONOXIDE ALARMS 🚨

Working smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms save lives! Take a few minutes today to make sure your home is protected.

πŸ”₯ Test your smoke and CO alarms regularly.
πŸ”₯ Have smoke alarms on every level of your home and near sleeping areas.
πŸ”₯ Install CO alarms outside sleeping areas and on every level of your home.
πŸ”₯ Never disable an alarm because of nuisance alarms.
πŸ”₯ Make sure everyone in your home recognizes the sound of each alarm.

Carbon monoxide is colorless and odorless, which means you may not know it’s there without a working CO alarm.

🚨 If a smoke alarm sounds: Get out, stay out, and call 911.

🚨 If a CO alarm sounds: Move everyone to fresh air outside and call 911. Don’t go back inside until emergency personnel say it’s safe.

Check your alarms today β€” a few minutes could save a life.
