Opening its current building on April 5, 2021, the Riverview Public Library celebrates its 5th anniversary today. The new building serves the expanding Riverview area and surrounding communities, which outgrew the original location that served them since 1979. We look forward to the new location being a valuable resource for decades as well.

Fifty years ago today the Riverview Branch Library held its dedication ceremony!
Library service to the community began with the Riverview Station, a bookmobile stop at a local grocery store. A group of citizens formed the Riverview Library Association when they saw the need for a library building to better serve the communities of Riverview, South Brandon, Progress Village and Gibsonton. With the Gardinier Corporation’s donation of land previously used as a worm farm, the 8,000 sq. ft. Riverview Branch Library opened on November 18, 1979.
These photographs were digitized from time capsule contents, created by the Riverview Library Association and the Riverview Woman’s Club to commemorate the US bicentennial celebration in 1976.
