Riviera Beach Fire Rescue “We are fighting with you” Black men and breast cancer
Men can develop breast cancer, although it accounts for approximately 1% of breast cancer cases.
Black men have a higher incidence of breast cancer than White men in the United States.
Black men diagnosed with breast cancer face higher mortality rates than White men.
Men should report a breast lump, ni**le discharge, ni**le inversion, or unexplained changes in the chest to a healthcare professional.
Routine mammograms aren’t recommended for all men, but men at increased risk may benefit from individualized screening.
Important message: Breast cancer does not discriminate by gender. Men need to be aware of their bodies and take unusual changes seriously.
