The City of Roanoke Treasurer's Office is committed to maintaining the highest accountability while collecting local and state taxes.
The City Treasurer's Office is responsible for collecting Real Estate Taxes, Personal Property Taxes, Business License Fees, City-Wide Invoices, EMS Bills, Dog Licenses, Short-Term Rental Taxes, and Trust Taxes for Meals, Admissions and Lodging. DMV Select services will be unavailable at the Treasurer’s Office from Thursday, May 28 through Wednesday, June 3, 2026, while staff prioritize personal property tax payment processing.
All other Treasurer’s Office services will remain available during this time.
Residents are encouraged to use online DMV services at www.dmvnow.com until DMV Select transactions resume at 8:30 a.m., Thursday, June 4, 2026.

The Roanoke City DMV Select (located in the Roanoke City Treasurer's Office) will be closing at 10:00 a.m., April 29, 2026. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Due to the large volume of real estate payments received by mail, the Roanoke City DMV Select (located in the Roanoke City Treasurer's Office) will be closed Monday, April 13 and Tuesday, April 14 to allow for those payments to be processed. The Treasurer's Office will be open for all other City of Roanoke transactions. We appreciate your understanding.
The Roanoke City DMV Select (located in the Roanoke City Treasurer's Office) will be closed April 2 - April 8 to allow for processing of Real Estate taxes which are due April 6. We appreciate your understanding.
Citizens are reminded that Real Estate Taxes are due April 6, 2026. There have been significant delays in mail delivery which has caused a delay in processing payments. Citizens are encouraged to pay online at www.roanokevataxes.com.
Please allow for processing time if you are using bill pay through your financial institution. Call 540-853-2561 if your taxes are not paid from escrow and you did not receive a statement. Failure to receive a statement does not relieve you from penalties and/or interest. Postmarks on or before the due date will be honored.
