Children’s Trust was excited to participate in FIVE18 Family Services 5th Annual Trunk or Treat this year! We had a wonderful time being part of such an awesome community event, connecting with families, sharing smiles, and spreading a little Halloween fun! 🧡🖤

A huge THANK YOU to FIVE18 Family Services for hosting such an amazing event and bringing our community together for an evening full of fun, fellowship, and memories! We’re grateful for the opportunity to participate alongside so many wonderful community partners. 🧡

Today, we remember and honor a very special member of the Children’s Trust family—Elvis, our beloved former facility dog. Elvis peacefully crossed the rainbow bridge on Monday, October 5th.

Since 2015, Elvis quietly served alongside our team, offering something that cannot be measured in words: comfort, safety, and unconditional love. Although he officially retired in 2020, Elvis was still present providing lots of love to staff and community partners.

As the CAC facility dog Elvis had a very important job. He sat beside children and families at the Children’s Advocacy Center. In moments that could feel frightening, confusing, or overwhelming, Elvis was there.

Elvis reminded us that healing can begin in many ways. Sometimes it begins with a conversation. Sometimes with a caring adult. And sometimes, it begins with a dog sitting quietly beside you, letting you know that you are not alone. ❤️

His paw prints are forever part of the Children’s Trust story, and his memory will remain in the hearts of the children, families, staff, community partners and volunteers who had the privilege of knowing him.

Thank you, Elvis, for years of faithful service, countless comforting moments, and for being there when children needed you most.

We will miss you more than words can say. 🐾💙

Yesterday, Children’s Trust was proud to volunteer at the annual M4K Lynchburg Golf Classic! ⛳️💚

We’re grateful for opportunities to partner with organizations and businesses in our community that are committed to supporting local children and families. Events like this help bring awareness to the importance of investing in the well-being of children right here in our community.

Mustaches for Kids - M4K Lynchburg improves the quality of life for local children through individual fundraising, partnering with local charities and businesses, and—of course—having a little fun with facial hair! 🥸

Thank you to Mustaches for Kids - M4K Lynchburg for allowing Children’s Trust to be part of such a fun and meaningful event. We’re proud to partner, raise awareness, and continue working together to make a difference for local children! 💚⛳️

Christina brings nearly 20 years of experience serving children and families affected by abuse and neglect, along with extensive experience in nonprofit leadership, child advocacy, organizational development, and community collaboration.

We are excited to welcome Christina back to Children’s Trust and look forward to the knowledge, passion, and leadership she brings to our mission of creating a safer, stronger future for children and families.

We're thankful for community partners like Mission House Coffee who chose us to be their "Round Up" nonprofit earlier this year!

Not only did you and your customers round up significant funding to support our services at the Bedford Children's Advocacy Center, you helped more people learn about our mission and what we do to help and protect the children and families who need us the most!

Thank you for setting the bar high for what can happen when we all work together to protect the children in our community!

Big news for the Roanoke Valley: Family Service of Roanoke Valley will be the new home for the Trauma Informed Community Network (TICN), transitioning from Children's Trust.

Since 2020, TICN has united 20+ local organizations around a simple but powerful idea: when we understand trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), we can respond with compassion instead of judgment. Children's Trust built this network from the ground up as its backbone agency, and we're deeply grateful for their vision and leadership.

Now, FSRV is proud to carry TICN forward. This work is a natural extension of what we've done for 125 years: helping individuals and families build emotional wellness, healthy relationships, and hope. Through TICN, we've already trained over 4,500 community members in Trauma-Informed Care, and those trainings, learning collaboratives, and community resources will continue, just under our roof.

Thank you to Children's Trust for their partnership in making this transition smooth. More details on upcoming trainings and how to get involved are coming soon.
