🚨 Increased Fire Danger Today β€” Please Avoid Burning 🚨

With today’s gusty winds and very low humidity, conditions are prime for fires to start and spread rapidly across our area. Even a small spark can become a fast-moving wildfire under weather like this.

πŸ”₯ What to Know:
β€’ Wind gusts could reach 25–35 mph
β€’ Humidity dropping into the 30% range
β€’ Dry leaves, brush, and fields will ignite and spread quickly

βœ… Burning is strongly discouraged today.
If you must burn, please use extreme caution and follow local burn regulations.

Let’s all do our part to keep our community safe. A single ember can travel a long distance on a day like today.

Stay alert, stay safe, and thank you for helping protect Callaway and our neighbors.

Fall fire season is here, bringing increased fire danger to an already dry Virginia. Most wildfires are started by people, with escaped debris being the leading cause. Here are some key practices for preventing wildfires:

🚫 Avoid having outdoor fires on dry, windy days
πŸ”₯ Keep fires small and far from vegetation
πŸͺ£ Have tools and water on hand
πŸ“± Have your phone ready to call 911 in case of an emergency
πŸ‘€ Stay with your fire until it's out cold
