💙 Thank You for Helping Us Serve Our Community 💙

Today’s Unsheltered Pop-Up Outreach was a powerful reminder of what can be accomplished when organizations come together with a shared commitment to helping others.

The Roanoke City Sheriff’s Office extends its sincere gratitude to our community partners:

Thank you for providing food, essential items, resources, services, and your valuable time to support members of our community experiencing homelessness. Your willingness to show up, engage, and serve made a meaningful difference in the lives of those we connected with today.

These outreach events are about more than distributing supplies; they are about building relationships, restoring dignity, and ensuring individuals know that resources and support are available. Together, we are creating opportunities for hope, connection, and positive change.

We are grateful for your partnership and your dedication to making our community stronger, safer, and more compassionate.

We are truly stronger together. 💙

Investing in leadership means investing in better service to our community.

Recently, supervisors from the Roanoke City Sheriff’s Office participated in leadership training focused on key principles that strengthen both individual performance and team success. Topics included communication, situational awareness, decision-making, leadership, teamwork, workload management, and error management.

Through real-world scenarios and interactive discussions, participants explored how these principles apply to the challenges faced in public safety every day. A major component of the training centered on the debrief philosophy, the understanding that growth happens when teams openly discuss both successes and opportunities for improvement.

If we aren't talking about what was done well and what requires improvement, we cannot truly learn, adapt, and grow.

Sheriff Hash frequently reiterates that leadership is not about being perfect; it's about being willing to evaluate decisions, learn from experiences, support one another, and continually strive for excellence. By investing in professional development and fostering a culture of accountability, the Roanoke City Sheriff’s Office remains committed to providing the highest level of service to those we serve.

💜 World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 💜

Today, we join communities around the world in recognizing World Elder Abuse Awareness Day and reaffirming our commitment to protecting, supporting, and empowering older adults.

Elder abuse can take many forms, including physical, emotional, financial, and neglect. Unfortunately, many cases go unreported, making awareness, education, and prevention more important than ever.

Through our TRIAD program, the Roanoke City Sheriff's Office works year-round alongside community partners to provide seniors with valuable information, resources, and opportunities to stay connected and informed. From crime prevention presentations and scam awareness to health and wellness programs, TRIAD serves as a bridge between seniors, law enforcement, and the community.

We encourage everyone to take a moment to check in on the older adults in your life, learn the warning signs of abuse, and help foster a community where every senior feels safe, respected, and valued.

Together, we can help prevent elder abuse and ensure our seniors continue to live with dignity and security.

At the Roanoke City Sheriff's Office, community engagement isn't limited to the events we host; it's also about showing up for our community partners and celebrating the milestones that make our city stronger.

Yesterday afternoon, members of our agency had the opportunity to participate in Field Day at the YMCA, hosted by our valued community partner, State Farm. The event brought together youth, families, and organizations for an afternoon filled with fun, teamwork, and positive community connections.

Today, we were honored to join city leaders, residents, and community stakeholders for the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the newly renovated Eureka Park. This investment represents more than improvements to a park; it reflects a continued commitment to creating welcoming spaces where families can gather, children can play, and communities can thrive.

Whether supporting our partners, attending community celebrations, or serving residents through our daily work, we remain committed to being present, engaged, and connected.

Because when we invest in our community and each other, we truly do it better together.
