🚨 Baldwin County Update – Evacuation & Emergency Declaration Lifted

Governor Kay Ivey has officially lifted the mandatory evacuation order, and the Baldwin County Commission has lifted the Local State of Emergency declaration, effective 2:00 PM today.

The Baldwin County Shelter at the Coliseum closes at 1:00 PM, and the Safer Place at St. Paul’s closed earlier today as sheltering needs decreased.

Power restoration is still ongoing across the county. Utility crews are working as quickly and safely as possible. Please remain patient, and contact your specific provider if you need to report an outage or have questions.

We thank our residents for their cooperation throughout this event. Please continue to use caution as crews work to clear remaining debris and restore essential services.

While Baldwin County was fortunate to avoid the worst of the storm, we recognize that many areas across the region were not as fortunate. We are deeply grateful for our outcome and continue to keep those harder‑hit communities in our thoughts and prayers.

🌟 Mutual Aid Appreciation Post 🌟

Baldwin County would like to extend our deepest thanks to the many agencies that arrived to support us following Hurricane Isaias.

We were grateful to receive assistance from several counties across Alabama, including:
• Cherokee County – Shawn Rogers and Brent Snead
• Cullman County – Tim Sartin and Brent McDonald
• Jackson County – Lee Meadows
• Colbert County – Keith Reaves
• Etowah County – Jim Slick and Keshawn Long

Your support strengthened our response efforts and made a real difference for our residents.

We also want to recognize that Baldwin County had a tremendous amount of local support as well from municipalities, first responders, utility crews, public works teams, volunteer organizations, and countless staff working around the clock.

To everyone who stepped up, locally and from afar: thank you for standing with Baldwin County when we needed you most.

🤝💛 We are stronger together.

🌊 Post‑Storm Beach Safety Reminder from Baldwin County EMA

In the wake of the recent storm, dangerous surf and strong rip currents continue along our coastline. Conditions can change fast, and even experienced swimmers can be caught off guard.

For your safety, please stay out of the water.
Double red flags mean the water is closed due to life‑threatening conditions.

Why this matters:
• Rip currents can form suddenly and pull you away from shore.
• Rough, unsettled surf makes rescue operations far more difficult and dangerous.
• Unnecessary water emergencies put additional strain on first responders.

Our first responders have been extremely busy across Baldwin County handling storm impacts, debris issues, and emergency calls. Let’s support them by making safe choices and avoiding preventable water rescues.

Stay alert, stay safe, and help us protect our community.

🔌 Generator Safety Reminder

If you’re using a generator after the storm, please do so safely:
- Never use a generator indoors, this includes garages, carports, sheds, or near open windows and doors.
- Place generators outside, at least 20 feet away from buildings, to prevent deadly carbon monoxide buildup.
- Use proper extension cords rated for outdoor use and heavy loads.
- Don’t overload your generator, follow the manufacturer's wattage limits.

🧯 Fuel safely:
- Turn the generator off and let it cool before refueling.
- Store fuel in approved containers away from heat sources.
- Install and check carbon monoxide alarms in your home.
- Never plug a generator directly into a wall outlet (this can back‑feed power lines and endanger utility crews).

Stay safe as power restoration continues. If you feel dizzy, nauseous, or light‑headed, go outside immediately, carbon monoxide is odorless and deadly.
