Sexual assault can happen to anyone. If it happens, knowing there is someone to turn to can make all the difference for victims/survivors and their families.

Dodge & Olmsted Victim Services offers volunteer opportunities to help staff our 24/7 crisis line.

The crisis line primarily serves victims of sexual assault, but also receives calls from victims of general crime.

To become a volunteer, interested appliants must:
Be 18 years of age or older;
Live within a 30 minutes response time to the St. Mary’s E.D.;
Pass a background check;
Attend our 40-hour sexual assault advocacy training; and
Commit to covering a minimum of one shift per month for one year.

The shifts are 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. on weeknights, and also 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends and holidays.

The Fall 2026 Sexual Assault Advocate Training will be
held at the Government Center from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays:
October 6, 13, 20, 27
November 3, 10, 17

This week, we proudly recognize National Co-Responder and Crisis Responder Week by celebrating the incredible work of the Olmsted County Crisis Response Team.

The week celebrates the many co-responders and crisis responders carrying out this important work across the country, while trying to meet the rising demand for mental health and substance use services. With the ever-increasing number of calls involving people experiencing mental health crises, these professionals play a crucial role in protecting public safety.
