Brothers,
Thank you for showing up this morning. Session one of IRON MIND is behind us, and the hardest part of any eight-week commitment is the walk through the door the first time. You did that.
A few things worth holding onto before next
Saturday:
What we practiced is mental conditioning, and it works the same way physical conditioning does. The nervous system learns regulation through repetition, not through a single strong effort. Two hours on a Saturday will not change much on its own; two hours a week for eight weeks, paired with what you carry into the other six days, is where the change happens.
Self-efficacy, the belief that you can handle what is in front of you, is built primarily through mastery experiences. Small, completed reps. Pick one moment this week where you would normally react, and pause before you respond instead. That single rep is the assignment.
One more thing. Several of you named struggles out loud that others in the room recognized immediately. That recognition matters. A good deal of what makes group work effective is simply learning that your experience is not unique to you, and that isolation, not weakness, is what keeps most men stuck.
Next session: Saturday, September 12, 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., Diverse Mosaic Community Center, 400 Andrews Street, Suite 420. Breakfast will be ready when you arrive. Come as you are, and bring a brother if you know one who needs this.
Appreciate each of you.
