Phishing scam - the fraudulent practice of sending emails pretending to be a reputable company in order to obtain personal information.

Smishing scam - a scam that uses fake text messages, pretending to be a reputable company.

Spoofing scam - a trick where scammers hide their real identity and pretend to be a trusted person company or system by using fake caller idea, forged emails, or look-alike websites.

Creating strong passwords defends against hackers and scammers looking to get into your online accounts. The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency recommends the following so consumers can protect their online accounts.

1. Create passwords that are over 15 characters
2. Use a different password for each account you have
3. To keep track of passwords, use a password manager to safely store your login information
4. As extra security, enable multi-factor authentication
