“After you have this at home, if the date has passed, you can still eat this. If you don’t want to eat it, you can very likely, depending on the product and if it’s perishable or not, you can donate it. So, this is going to be very helpful for food banks and food pantries to help the general public understand better what these dates mean and why we distribute products past the date stamped on them and why those are still food safe, nutritious products that can still be received by community members that are food insecure,said Laura Held, Foodlink’s director of Food Bank Programs & Compliance."
