The families staying in the Promise House enjoyed a Fall Family Fun night last week.

Guests painted pumpkins and gourds, took fun photos at our spooky photo booth, played Fall Bingo, colored and enjoyed some tasty food!

Family homelessness exists all across the country. But it often goes unseen. It’s an invisible crisis.

More than 1.5 million children experienced homelessness during the 2023-24 school year. Yet most were not living on the streets or in shelters. They were staying in motels or doubled up with others, forms of homelessness that can remain largely invisible to the public.

These families and children experiencing homelessness deserve to be top of mind. Which is exactly why we work every day to serve families in our community.

This week, we’re going to celebrate our work here in Olmsted County and the work of Family Promise sites across the country.

Next week, we’re going to gather with Family Promise leaders from across the country at our National Conference in Phoenix!

We can’t wait to catch up with our FP Family. We’ll share ideas, learn from communities across the country, and strengthen the work we’re doing right here in Olmsted County to prevent and end family homelessness. 💜

"No two communities face family homelessness in exactly the same way.

And while there are five core programs that are utilized across the Family Promise national network, each Family Promise site delivers solutions shaped by the needs of families in its community.

That local expertise is one of Family Promise’s greatest strengths! ⭐️

For our first summer of being full with families at the Promise House we decided what could be better than having fresh produce on site for our families to enjoy.

Our team and volunteers put together garden beds and planted a variety of produce and herbs that have been shared with families staying in our shelter.

🥒Cucumbers
🍅Tomatoes
🥔Potatoes
🥦Broccoli
🎃Pumpkins
💚Green beans
🫑Green peppers
✅Tomatillos
🍓Strawberries
🌶Jalapenos
🥕Carrots
🥗Okra
Basil, dill, cilantro, sage, parsley, thyme, and more!

It was a bountiful summer and our families enjoyed the produce!
