Statement from the Jewish Federation of Greater Rochester

The Jewish Federation of Greater Rochester is heartbroken by the tragic death of a 14-year-old boy and the injuries to 24 students and teachers during a school hike in northern Israel.

According to preliminary reports from Israeli authorities, the explosion was likely caused by unexploded ordnance linked to previous Hezbollah rocket fire. The circumstances remain under investigation.

This heartbreaking tragedy reminds us of the lasting dangers of violence and conflict, particularly for innocent civilians.

We stand in solidarity with the families and communities affected, extend our deepest condolences to the grieving family, and pray for a full and speedy recovery for all those injured.
