This morning, Rochester Fire, Rochester Police, and the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office gathered to honor the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001. The memorial service included a joint Honor Guard presentation, ceremonial tributes, moments of silence and the reading of names in remembrance of the thousands of lives lost and the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Following the ceremony, public safety personnel participated in a memorial stair climb at Broadway Plaza symbolizing the courage and determination of those who climbed the towers on 9/11.

It was a meaningful morning of reflection, remembrance, and honoring the legacy of service.

August is National Emergency Management Awareness Month.

To recognize the work of our local emergency managers, the dome lights at City Hall will be illuminated green on Friday August 14. The color green symbolizes stability in the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Lifeline system, which the team uses to monitor conditions before, during and after a complex incident or disaster. When green, each of the Lifelines are functioning properly and not currently impacted.
