Families Thrive, Inc. Families Thrive, Inc. is a national, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1972. Our Therapeutic Foster Care program and Donald J.

We are dedicated to supporting foster children and families and helping to find homes for children awaiting adoption. (formerly Children Awaiting Parents) is a national, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that since 1972 has been dedicated to finding adoptive homes for America's waiting children. Our mission is to recruit foster and adoptive families across the United States for children who have been waiting the longest for a family. Our waiting children are often older, sibling groups who wish to be placed together, or children typically categorized as "special needs" or "hardest to place." Corbett Adoption Agency (CAA) are the latest addition to the services we offer. We recruit, train, and provide support services in NYS for children waiting to be adopted and families waiting to adopt them. Throwing it back to a few foster care myths we've busted before! 💙

We often hear questions and concerns from people who wonder if they're the "right fit" to foster.

The reality? There's no one-size-fits-all foster family!

What matters most is being able to provide a child with a safe, stable, and loving home. And you might be more of a fit than you think! 🏠

We're getting into the spooky spirit of October! Sarah and her family showed up in their dinosaur-themed apparel to represent Families Thrive at a community Trunk-or-Treat event on Friday. 🦖

Breaking Cycles for Our Children 🔄

What if the experiences you've lived through could help you become a better parent?

Our latest Licensed to Love conversation explores how lived experience can shape the way we understand, connect with, and advocate for children. 🧠✨

Your past doesn't automatically disqualify you from fostering or adopting. In some cases, the challenges you've overcome can give you a deeper understanding of what it means to need someone in your corner.

Children don't need perfect parents. They need safe, caring, committed adults who are willing to show up. ❤️

Listen to "Can I Be a Foster Parent If…" for the full conversation. 🎧

Kinship families are strong - but the systems meant to support families weren’t built with them in mind. Too often, caregivers face barriers enrolling kids in school, accessing healthcare, or securing stable housing. 🚧

That’s not just inconvenient - it’s unjust. It’s time to connect systems to recognize, respect, and support all families. 🔗🫶
