🎨👻 On October 16, EPI residential participants Rebecca, Desi, and Yahiara attended Paint the Night with Disability EmpowHer Network, a Halloween-themed paint night and fundraiser benefiting Disability EmpowHer Network!

The evening featured a festive painting class led by Painting with a Twist Henrietta, along with drinks, hors d’oeuvres, raffles, and plenty of Halloween fun! 🎃🖌️

Every ticket purchased helps support Disability EmpowHer Network and its mission to provide meaningful programs and opportunities to its community.

We love seeing our residential participants enjoy creative experiences, connect with others, and make lasting memories!

Being a teen is hard. Being a teen with epilepsy is even harder! Come to our Teen Epilepsy Weekend to hang out with other teens who have epilepsy and get it!

Our Self-Direction team recently hosted the very first EPI Craft Connections, bringing employees together from across departments for an afternoon of Halloween-themed crafting and fun!

Participants shared a delicious potluck lunch, created festive crafts, and even connected with colleagues in our other offices through Teams so everyone could join in the creative experience.

The best part? Seeing everyone proudly show off their finished masterpieces!

The event was such a success that EPI Craft Connections is now becoming a quarterly tradition. We can't wait to see what we'll create together next!

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), a time to celebrate the contributions of workers with disabilities and promote inclusive, accessible workplaces.

Throughout the month, we’re highlighting EPI participants who are employed and sharing how meaningful employment supports independence, personal growth, and community connection!

The first participant we are highlighting is Jeffrey! Jeffrey receives Self-Direction services from EPI and has been part of the maintenance team at Walmart in Greece, NY, for 11 years! His responsibilities include keeping the store clean, responding to spills, maintaining restrooms, and reporting equipment issues or damage to management.

When asked about his favorite parts of the job, Jeffrey shared that he enjoys helping customers, meeting new people, and seeing his coworkers.

For Jeffrey, having a job means so much more than a paycheck. As he puts it, “Having a job gives me something to look forward to, a sense of independence, and money to take care of myself.”

We’re proud to celebrate Jeffrey and the many ways people with disabilities contribute to their workplaces and communities!

Congratulations to LaShonda Walker, EPI’s Rose Gagliano Scholarship recipient! 🥳🎓

LaShonda is a Direct Support Professional at EPI’s Day Program who is passionate about helping people with autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and traumatic brain injuries live meaningful, independent lives.

Currently enrolled in Monroe Community College's Hospital & Communication Mental Health Tech program, LaShonda is continuing her education while working at EPI. Her goal is to become a Mental Health/TAG Assistant and continue advancing her career in support of the people we serve.

The Rose Gagliano Scholarship, established in memory of a longtime employee of the New York Apple Association and New York Cherry Growers Association, supports EPI employees pursuing education and professional development in fields that benefit individuals with disabilities. Administered through funding from the Al Sigl Community of Agencies, the scholarship helps employees like LaShonda take the next step toward their career goals.

We are proud to support LaShonda as she continues her education and builds a career dedicated to making a difference in the lives of others. Congratulations, LaShonda! 🫶
