Our Down syndrome Achievement Centers provide programming and support to people with Down syndrome and their families.

GiGi's Playhouse of Rochester is one of the nationwide network of Down syndrome achievement centers; changing lives through free, results -driven programs for individuals of all ages, families and communities. Our mission is to change the way the world views Downs syndrome and to send a global message of acceptance to all.

🎃 A little STEM magic with a Halloween twist! 👻

This past Tuesday, our STEM Kids program got into the fall spirit with a hands-on pumpkin investigation! Our kids measured their pumpkins’ height using blocks, measured the width with a string, and made their best guesses about what might be hiding inside.

Then came the best part… opening up the pumpkins to discover what was inside! We explored with some fun sensory play and finished by drawing a face and carving our pumpkin. 🔬

October Volunteer Spotlight: Melissa! 💙

Meet Melissa, one of our amazing tutors at GiGi’s Playhouse Rochester! Melissa has been paired with Kareen for the past several sessions, and it has been so special to watch their relationship grow. From creative, hands-on literacy lessons to diving into math this session, these two make learning fun together! 📚✨

One of our favorite things? Seeing how excited they both are to see each other each week! And if you spot them rocking their matching GiGi’s Playhouse shirts, you know you’ve found one of our favorite duos! 🥰

We’re so grateful for volunteers like Melissa who bring creativity, dedication, and heart to our Playhouse community. 💙

What a NIGHT! 🥩🎉

Our annual Meat Raffle was a HUGE hit, and we are still thinking about all the fun, excitement, and incredible moments that made this event so special! From the friendly competition to the big wins, it was a night full of laughs, community, and so much support for GiGi’s Playhouse Rochester!

A BIG thank you to our amazing sponsors for helping make this event possible, our incredible volunteers who worked so hard behind the scenes and throughout the night, and of course, everyone who came out to join the fun! WE’RE LESS THAN 24 HOURS AWAY FROM OUR ANNUAL MEAT RAFFLE! 🎟️🥩

Introducing our Achievers’ Fall Pumpkins! 🍂🎃

Our Achievers have been working HARD for months on a very special project, and we are so excited to finally share it with you! 🧡

These beautiful wooden pumpkins were made completely from scratch with the help of the Teich family! From gathering the wood and putting the pieces together to sanding, gluing, and decorating, our Achievers put so much time, teamwork, and creativity into bringing these pumpkins to life. We couldn’t be prouder of how they turned out! 🎨🪵

And the best part? These pumpkins will be available for purchase at our Meat Raffle THIS SATURDAY, October 17! 🎟️

🌟 Participant Best of All: Nick! 🌟

This month, we’re celebrating Nick, one of our amazing adult participants at GiGi’s Playhouse Rochester! 🎉

From being our resident movie expert 🎬 to jumping right into Achievers, making new friends, and embracing opportunities to give back, Nick continues to show us what it means to be a Best of All!

This month, Nick was the FIRST participant to bring in donations for our Achievers collection benefiting patients at Wilmot Cancer Institute! 💙 He brought coloring books and markers to help bring a little creativity and joy to patients during their treatment.

We are so proud of Nick and love seeing his enthusiasm, kindness, and growth in our Playhouse community! 🥰

🧪🌈 Science, slime, and a little bit of magic! 🌈🧪

Our Fantastic Friends group had a blast getting hands-on with science! From making their own slime to creating colorful rainbows with Skittles, our friends explored, experimented, and had so much fun learning together. 🌈✨

Who knew science could be this sweet and slimy?! 😆💚 We love seeing our Fantastic Friends try new things, get creative, and make memories with their friends!
