How Is a WGSD Student’s Education Funded?
It costs approximately $16,126 per student each year to educate students in the Webster Groves School District.
Here’s where that funding comes from:
-87% local funding, primarily property taxes
-13% state funding
-Federal funding also contributes a small amount.
Because WGSD relies heavily on local revenue, changes in state funding and rising operating costs create financial challenges.
How does Proposition W fit in?
WGSD faces a projected $5 million budget gap. Proposition W proposes a 65-cent increase in the operating tax levy. If approved, it is expected to generate additional annual operating revenue to help address that gap and support the people, programs and services that serve our students.
