Measles isn’t something you want to mess with — especially when it’s preventable.

Illinois has confirmed 23 measles cases so far in 2026. While the risk remains very low for most Illinoisans, some communities have lower vaccination rates and are experiencing outbreaks.

The good news? Two doses of the MMR vaccine are about 97% effective at preventing measles.

Not sure if you’ve had your shots?
💉 Check your vaccination records through IDPH’s Vax Verify: https://dph.illinois.gov/vaxverify.html

You can also check with your health care provider or school/college records. Vax Verify lets Illinois residents access immunization records in the state’s registry, although some older records may not be available.

If you think you’ve been exposed to measles, contact your health care provider or local health department right away. Fast action after exposure can help prevent illness or make it less severe.
