Atchison-Holt Electric Cooperative AHEC, Where the Customers are the Owners! Atchison-Holt Electric (AHEC) is a rural electric cooperative owned by the members we serve.

AHEC was established in 1938 and has headquarters in Rock Port, Missouri. AHEC is proud to be a Touchstone Energy Cooperative. Touchstone Energy Cooperative unites electric cooperatives across the country with a common commitment to provide superior and responsive service to our members. As a Touchstone Energy Cooperative, we pledge to operate with Integrity, Customer Accountability, Innovation and a Spirit of Community Awareness. AHEC has over 1200 miles of distribution lines that provide power to more than 4600 meters in Atchison, Holt and Nodaway Counties in Missouri, Fremont and Page Counties in Iowa, and Nemaha County in Nebraska.

⚠️ For your safety, find out if your medical device is compatible with backup power, like batteries or a generator, in case of a power outage. Check how long it can operate during an outage and keep device-specific supplies on hand. And contact your electric cooperative to be sure you are on their list of members who need electricity for a medical device.

As fall temperatures fluctuate, your thermostat settings can make a difference on energy bills. On cooler days, lower the thermostat, and raise it during days that are warmer. On milder days, consider turning off your heating/cooling system altogether. A smart thermostat is also convenient for making temperature adjustments, and saving energy, even easier.

⚡️ We’re hiring! ⚡️
Atchison-Holt Electric Cooperative is seeking a qualified individual to fill a full-time position as an Apprentice Lineman or Journeyman Lineman. The Cooperative is willing to train the right candidate.

Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include performing a variety of tasks necessary for the construction, operation, and maintenance of the electric distribution system. Duties involve both climbing and non-climbing work on de-energized and energized electrical facilities under the supervision of a lineman, journeyman lineman, foreman, or operations superintendent.

Qualifications
• High school education or equivalent.
• Ability and willingness to learn and perform the duties required of the position, including hot-line work.
• Commitment to following the Cooperative’s safety procedures and job training requirements.
• Willingness to participate in required training and develop the skills necessary to perform the job safely and effectively.
The right candidate will have the opportunity to receive on-the-job training.

👻⚡ Meet the phantom load…the energy you may be using without even realizing it.

Many electronics continue to draw electricity while plugged in, even when they’re turned off or sitting in standby mode. TVs, gaming systems, chargers, computers and other electronics can all contribute.

Want to cut down on wasted energy? 🔌Unplug devices you aren't using or plug multiple electronics into a power strip that can be switched off when they're not needed.

A long, unique passphrase can be harder for cybercriminals to crack than a short password packed with special characters. Choose something memorable but difficult for others to guess, and never reuse passwords across multiple accounts.

⚡️ AHEC earns safety recognition ⚡️

Atchison-Holt Electric Cooperative was one of 35 Missouri electric cooperatives recognized for their commitment to workplace safety. Employees of the cooperative have now worked a total of 59,721.60 hours without a lost-time accident.

“We are proud of the steps these cooperatives have taken to ensure each and every employee goes home safely to their families at the end of every day,” said Johnie Hendrix, vice president of risk management and training for the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives (AMEC). “We offer a tremendous amount of training that always stresses safety. But in the end, it is the employees themselves who have created a culture of safety.

The recognition was presented Sept. 30 during the 2026 annual meeting of AMEC, the Jefferson City-based statewide service organization for Missouri’s electric cooperatives.
