The Rock Rapids Development Corporation is working to connect our recreational trail system from Island Park to Southside Park. The new 1300-foot extension will connect the existing trail north of Moon Creek Vet Clinic on Union Street to Buncombe Drive. Later this summer, we will also be connecting the Borman Forster Fields trails to Westside Park.

On behalf of the Rock Rapids Development Corporation and Rock Rapids Area Development Foundation, we extend our sincere gratitude to the Lyon County Riverboat Foundation following last night's award ceremony.

With these funds, the Rock Rapids Development Corporation will work with a local videographer to create promotional content designed to attract new residents and businesses to our area. This project will allow the RRDC to showcase our community's vibrant local culture, excellent amenities, and high quality of life. By capturing the unique spirit of Rock Rapids, we can effectively welcome newcomers and drive future economic growth.

The Rock Rapids Area Development Foundation will purchase and install an EcoCounter trail counter at the entrance of the Island Park rail bridge, just east of the Lyon County Historical Society Museum. The acquisition of this state-of-the-art counter will enable our organization to accurately and continuously collect valuable data on the usage of our trail system—specifically for pedestrians, cyclists, and potentially other users like scooter riders.

We are deeply grateful for the Lyon County Riverboat Foundation's continued dedication to supporting local projects. This unique grant program makes a wonderful impact across our region, and we truly appreciate the Foundation's ongoing investment in the growth and vitality of Rock Rapids and throughout Lyon County.
