Every year the Rockaway Township Fire Department Relief Association and Exempt Association send delegates to attend the annual NJ State Firefighter's Association Convention in Wildwood, NJ. It's also a tradition that many firefighters and their friends, families also come down for a weekend of camaraderie and time away from our every day jobs. Each year the delegates bring back valuable information to the department, as well as information and ideas from the multiple vendors who also attend and have booths.

🇺🇸 **Happy 250th Birthday, America!** 🇺🇸

Today, the Rockaway Township Fire Department proudly joins our community in celebrating **250 years of American independence**.

As we honor the courage, sacrifice, and spirit that built our nation, we also thank all those who continue to serve and protect our communities each day. We are proud to stand alongside our residents in celebrating this historic milestone.

As you enjoy today's festivities, please remember to celebrate safely:

🎆 Leave fireworks to the professionals. Consumer fireworks can cause serious injuries and fires.
🔥 Keep grills a safe distance from homes, decks, and anything that can burn.
🚗 Never drink and drive. Plan ahead and designate a sober driver.
🚒 Keep fire hydrants clear and accessible, and call 911 immediately in the event of an emergency.

From all of us at the **Rockaway Township Fire Department**, we wish you and your family a safe, happy, and memorable Independence Day as we celebrate **America's 250th Birthday!**

🇺🇸**Stay safe!** 🇺🇸

Joint Company Drill – 6/24/2026

Wednesday evening, members of Companies 2, 4, and 5 conducted a joint training drill at the former Toys “R” Us building at the mall.

The evening’s training focused on multiple disciplines. Members practiced wide-area search techniques, improving their ability to efficiently locate victims in large commercial occupancies. At the same time, other members trained with Truck 2, performing vertical ventilation operations and sharpening their skills using roof saws to simulate real-world roof ventilation techniques.

Training together on these scenarios strengthens coordination between companies and ensures our members remain prepared to respond safely and effectively to emergencies throughout Rockaway Township.
