Lisa's Little Rescue We are a licensed 501c3 wildlife rescue specializing in mammals serving Winnebago, Ogle, and Boone counties. Also founding member of the Animal Rescue Expo.

We are a 501c3 that believes that all wild animals deserve to live freely in the natural world whenever possible, and to be protected from unnecessary death and suffering. As human conflict and extreme weather intertwines with the natural world, wild animals often become orphaned or injured and need our help. We work tirelessly to rehabilitate orphaned, injured and sick wild animals with an emphasis on mammals of Winnebago County. The animals we treat receive food, medicine, shelter, and whatever else is needed to ensure a successful return to the wild. We educate to promote peaceful coexistence to protect animals and humans alike from unnecessary conflict and help train the next generation of wildlife care givers. We receive no federal, state or local funding. We are ran entirely by volunteers and all supplies, food and vet care is supported by private donations.

We took advantage of the incredible weather and released two cages full of squirrels. We do a soft release so they can still come and go as they wish (and get free handouts). We hung 6 more squirrel boxes, replaced all the tree limbs in cages with new ones AND get our Southern flier outside too. She loves her new digs.

Remember the baby squirrel that came in with one eye hanging out of its socket? We call him one-eye Jack. He is doing great outside with the other squirrels in their pre-release cage.

This youngster arrived today at 6:30 am. The finders say it is limping a little so we will do a full eval after work. We are just glad that he's safe and relaxing until then.

Our little Southern flier was upgraded to her huge flight cage today. She will now be housed with the other nocturnal wildlife in a new addition we added this Spring. This room has heating and A/C to keep our patients comfortable. We are grateful to the company that donated two of these brand new flight cages this Spring.

Just for fun.... ask Chatgtp to roast you in one sentence. Here is mine. Lol.

This little gal just arrived here from Machesney Park. She was found in a cardboard box in someones garage. Opossums live by scent so they often smell food sources in garbage cans. They wander in looking for a free snack and often get stranded. Lucky for her, the temps are mild and she was found and brought here. Shes in good shape!
