How Could Local Communities Be Affected by Amendment 3?
Community services often depend on partnerships among local governments, nonprofits, businesses, and residents.

Research by the Florida Nonprofit Alliance's notes concerns that reduced local revenues could affect areas such as:
• Healthcare access
• Services for seniors
• Support for families in crisis
• Programs for people with disabilities
• After-school and summer childcare programs

Every community is unique, which is why understanding local impacts is an important part of the conversation.

Great teachers change lives, and we're grateful for the partners who help us celebrate them.
As part of United Way Space Coast's Second Grade Reading Incentive Program, volunteers from L3Harris Technologies assembled and packed 118 Teacher Appreciation Kits for second grade teachers across all 26 Title I schools in our community. These kits are one way we recognize the educators who help build strong reading foundations for our students every day.
Special thanks to the L3Harris LIFT Malabar Team for donating their time and assembling these thoughtful gifts for our dedicated teachers. Together, we're supporting those who inspire the next generation of readers and learners. 💙

Every day, our partner agencies work to provide meals, groceries, and nutrition services to neighbors across our community. Whether it's helping a senior receive a nutritious meal, supporting a family through a food pantry, or ensuring children have food outside of school hours, these programs make a meaningful difference.
With food costs rising, demand for assistance continues to grow and local food pantries need community support now more than ever.

As United Way Space Coast meets with our corporate partners this Fall for our Annual Campaign, we will be providing donation boxes and a list of food pantries in our community. Working together, we can help meet the urgent need for donations. United Way also works closely with our partners at 211 Brevard and Second Harvest Food Bank to share information about local food distribution sites with those in need.
This World Food Day, consider donating food, making a financial contribution, or volunteering your time with a local organization helping to feed our neighbors in need. Together, we can build a stronger, healthier community for all.

What Is Amendment 3? On November 3, Florida voters will consider Amendment 3, a proposed change to the state's property tax system.

As with any ballot measure, it's important to understand how proposed changes could affect your community. Some local governments, community organizations, and nonprofit service providers are evaluating what the measure could mean for local programs and services, such as:
211 services
Mental health services
Domestic violence programs
Senior nutrition programs
Housing stability initiatives
School readiness, afterschool and summer childcare programs

We encourage voters to learn more about how Amendment 3 will impact local services, ask questions, and make informed decisions at the ballot box.

United Way Space Coast is proud to highlight Aging Matters in Brevard, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting the independence, health, safety, and quality of life of older adults throughout Brevard County.

For more than 60 years, Aging Matters has helped local seniors remain healthy, connected, and safely living in their own homes through nutrition, in-home care, and transportation services.

Through its Brevard Senior Nutrition Program, Aging Matters served 129,802 meals last year, including Meals on Wheels deliveries across 98 routes throughout Brevard County. Their Home and Community Based Services program provided support to 261 older adults, while Senior TranServe helped seniors maintain independence through more than 5,300 transportation trips to medical appointments, grocery stores, and other essential destinations.

Today, the need continues to grow. Aging Matters currently has a waitlist of seniors hoping to enroll in Meals on Wheels services. A gift of $2,000 sponsors one senior for an entire year, providing home-delivered hot, nutritious weekday meals, safety checks, and daily human connection that can make all the difference in helping an older adult remain healthy and independent.

This partnership reflects United Way's commitment to improving health and well-being for our neighbors of all ages and ensuring seniors have the support they need to age with dignity.

We are grateful for the impact Aging Matters in Brevard has on older adults throughout our community and for their continued dedication to strengthening Brevard County.

This week the L3Harris Technologies Workplace Campaign Kicked Off with an incredible show of volunteerism - hundreds of employees from across the organization came together to pack 6,000 snack packs, to be distributed to the local community by Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.
This is just the first of several events that L3Harris has planned to engage employees and the community to Ride The Wave - a Wave of Generosity that will shape our community for the better!
