🚌 School bus safety week! 🚍

🚸 Yellow flashing lights: The bus is preparing to stop to load or unload children.
🚨 Red flashing lights and extended stop arm: The bus has stopped and children are getting on or off.

When the bus is stopped and the lights are flashing red, that means STOP. 🛑

If you're driving the opposite direction of a stopped school bus on an UNDIVIDED (meaning: no median) street, you must also STOP. ✋

Remain stopped until the flashing bus signs are no longer activated.

Drive safely, Rocklin!

October 18th-24th has been designated Teen Driver Safety Week

Teen drivers aged 16-19 have nearly triple the fatal crash rate per mile driven compared to drivers 20 and older. Distraction, speeding, and the presence of other young passengers are common contributing factors in teen crashes. Male teen drivers have a significantly increased risk of fatal crash death rate compared to females in the same age group.

Parents, you have more influence on your teen than you may think. Be a good example and get involved in their driving habits from the beginning, and stay involved for the duration of their teen years.

Teach your teen driver about the dangers of risky driving habits like driving distracted, drinking and drug use, speeding and aggressive driving behavior.

Teach them to drive like their future depends on it. Because it does.

Impaired driving doesn't just put your life at risk. It can take someone else's.

Our department continues to deal with the aftermath of a DUI incident that took the life of Officer Matt Redding in 2005.

Driving under the influence is not just an accident waiting to happen. It is a preventable decision with potentially devastating consequences.

If you choose to drink, DO NOT DRIVE. There is absolutely no excuse, no shortcut, and no destination worth risking another person's life, or your own. DON'T DO IT, it's not worth it.

Make the right choice. Drive sober. Every time.

Earlier today, around noon, Rocklin Police Department officers responded to Congressman Kevin Kiley’s office after staff members discovered a powdery substance while opening mail. Officers arrived promptly and worked with office staff to secure the area and ensure the safety of those present.

The Roseville Fire Hazmat Task Force and the FBI responded to safely assess the substance and assist with the overall response. The FBI collected the powdery substance and will lead the investigation moving forward.

We appreciate everyone who assisted with this incident. Their coordinated efforts highlight the importance of strong partnerships in keeping our community safe. Public safety remains our highest priority, and we will continue to support the investigation as needed.
