The Gathering Inn's mission is to meet people where they are, inspire hope, and walk alongside them on their journey to sustainable housing. In its 19th year of operation, TGI offers a complete continuum of housing and supportive services for homeless individuals: emergency housing; medical respite care; permanent supportive housing; external housing placement; comprehensive support services; education and training; and aftercare follow-up. Not only does The Gathering Inn exist to fulfill the original mission and vision of our founders, but it also builds on that foundation by expanding services that address barriers to housing. The lives of TGI guests are transformed by inspiring self-sufficiency and inviting them to achieve sustainable housing. At The Gathering Inn, we are committed to maintaining a space that is consistent with kindness, dignity, and respect for all especially the individuals we serve. We understand there are many questions regarding our Medical Respite Program. For questions not yet addressed there, we are collecting them and will post responses in an FAQ before the program opens. Comments that are unkind, disrespectful, or not aligned with our mission will be removed. Thank you for helping us keep this a space that reaches out and lifts up.

💜 A Father’s Determination. A Family’s New Beginning.

When Kyle arrived at The Gathering Inn with his children, he had one goal: to build a more secure future for his family.

With determination, support from his case manager, and access to resources, Kyle began taking meaningful steps toward finding a place they could call home.

Today, Kyle and his children are housed through Home Start and embracing a new chapter filled with possibility!

🌸 Sometimes, It's the Little Moments That Mean the Most! 💙

A little sunshine, painting, gardening, music, and plenty of laughter made for a beautiful morning of connection for our guests!

Our case managers, Blossom and Javier, alongside program specialists Antoinette and Micah, created a special opportunity for the ladies in our program to step outside, unwind, get creative, and simply enjoy time together.

These moments may seem small, but they help build meaningful connections, a sense of belonging, and community.

Our community partner Roseville Adult School is bringing 100 Haircuts to the Polish American Hall on November 11. With Paul Mitchell joining the event to provide haircuts, volunteers are now needed to help welcome guests, serve lunches, support the resource table, and help with setup and cleanup.

The day will bring together free haircuts, health screenings, meals, and connections to local services for neighbors experiencing homelessness. We’re grateful to everyone working together to offer a day of care and connection.

Our wonderful volunteer, Sandra, brought a little extra love to our Medical Respite program with homemade Indian fry bread tacos!

Warm, golden fry bread piled high with delicious taco fillings and fresh toppings made for a meal our guests couldn't stop talking about!

The rave reviews kept coming, but what made the meal even more special was the kindness and generosity behind it.

Thank you, Sandra, for sharing your time, talents, and a delicious meal with our guests. It's thoughtful gestures like these that make our programs feel a little more like home! 💙

🎗️ Beyond the Diagnosis: When Cancer and Homelessness Intersect

Cancer changes lives in ways we don’t always see.

For Jason, a cancer diagnosis and serious health complications brought more than medical challenges. They led to the loss of his housing, strained family relationships, and ultimately, his place on the transplant list because he no longer had stable housing.

When Jason arrived at The Gathering Inn’s Medical Respite program, he needed more than a safe place to recover. He needed compassionate care, connection, and hope.

In less than two months, our team helped Jason access essential medical services, secure benefits, and reconnect with his family.

Ultimately, Jason chose to spend his remaining days surrounded by the people he loved.

As we reflect on the impact of cancer on individuals and families, Jason’s journey highlights the importance of access to safe housing and compassionate care, even during life’s most difficult moments.

At The Gathering Inn, we believe everyone deserves to be met with dignity, compassion, and hope.

Follow Your Steps 💙
After more than three years of experiencing homelessness, James knew rebuilding his life wouldn’t happen all at once. His reminder to himself became simple: “Follow your steps.”
And he did. James focused on his goals, built routines, attended life skills classes, saved money, and learned to trust the process even when it felt difficult. Along the way, he encouraged other guests to do the same, sharing what he had learned whenever he could.
When the right housing opportunity came, James was ready. He had prepared, saved for his deposit, and built a strong foundation for his next chapter.
Today, James is in his own home, continuing his journey toward sustainable housing with confidence, gratitude, and independence. He has even shared his hope of returning to The Gathering Inn as a volunteer to give back.
James didn’t get here with one giant leap. He followed his steps. 💙

A Journey Forward 💙
When Michelle and her daughter first came to The Gathering Inn, she was understandably anxious about what came next. Finding housing felt overwhelming, but with time, encouragement, and consistent support, Michelle began taking steps forward. She connected with childcare, settled into the program, and continued working toward her goals. Today, Michelle and her daughter have moved into housing with Home Start, an exciting next step on their path toward sustainable housing. Michelle continues to share updates with our team and is embracing this new chapter with gratitude and hope. We are honored to have walked alongside her and can’t wait to see where her journey takes her next. 💙

This Friday, we’re opening our doors—and we would be honored to welcome you! 🎉

Join us for Renewed & Ready: A South Placer Reopening Celebration as we celebrate the restoration of our medical clinic, laundry services, and office spaces.

📅 Friday, October 9
⏰ 12:00–3:00 p.m.
🍽️ BBQ lunch begins at 12:30 p.m.
🎀 Brief program and ribbon cutting to follow

Please come when your schedule allows and stay as long as you are able. Community partners, neighbors, and friends are all welcome!

Guests are also invited to bring a bottle of liquid laundry detergent to help stock our newly reopened laundry space and receive an entry into our special community raffle. Participation is completely optional.

We can’t wait to share this special moment with our community! 💙
