There is almost nothing more powerful than a mother’s determination to build a better future for her children.

When Jessica arrived at The Gathering Inn’s Roseville Road Campus, she was facing significant barriers, including unstable housing and disrupted income. Even so, she hit the ground running, fully engaging in services and focusing on creating stability for her family.

Working closely with her case manager, Aalyah, Jessica was able to reinstate her SSDI benefits, providing a more reliable source of income and an important step toward independence.

With support from TGI and City of Sacramento’s Department of Community Response, Jessica secured placement in a subsidized housing program in downtown Sacramento.

Today, she continues building stability, well-being, and a brighter future for herself and her children.

Sometimes hope arrives right on time. 🏡✨

When Felicia came to the Roseville Road Campus, she was facing the uncertainty and stress that can come with housing instability. But instead of giving up, she stayed focused on building a better future.

Over the next several weeks, Felicia worked closely with case management, remained committed to her goals, and took meaningful steps toward long-term stability. In just six weeks, she transitioned into permanent housing, a milestone that brought renewed independence, peace of mind, and hope for what’s ahead.

Reflecting on her journey, Felicia shared:
“It came in perfect time. Everyone was so helpful and inspiring.”

We celebrate Felicia and her strong commitment to growth.

As the school year comes to a close, we're celebrating the incredible students of Sunset Ranch Elementary School's Leaders of the Pack program!

Throughout the year, these young leaders chose to uplift a variety of causes in their community, learning that leadership means serving others. Through after-school fundraisers, they raised money to support neighbors experiencing homelessness and chose The Gathering Inn to help make a meaningful impact in the lives of our guests.

TGI's Darlene Cullivan recently had the privilege of meeting with these students and hearing their hearts for the community. One student shared, "A little bit of money can help in big ways." Another said she joined Leaders of the Pack because she wanted to learn how to serve others.

Their compassion reminds us that philanthropy has no age requirement. These students are learning, growing, and spreading love while helping create a culture of care and compassion for others.

Please join us in thanking the students, families, and educators of Sunset Ranch Elementary for inspiring hope through generosity, service, and kindness. 💜

Sometimes the person who shows up to serve is someone who once needed to be served themselves.

Sister Rose knows what it means to experience homelessness. She also knows what it means to find stability, rebuild, and come out on the other side with a heart full of purpose. Today, she channels that lived experience into one of the most dedicated outreach ministries serving the Elk Grove community.

As the coordinator of a homeless outreach ministry at Creekside Church, Sister Rose and her team regularly provide hygiene kits, shoes, blankets, and hot home cooked meals to individuals experiencing homelessness including guests at the Elk Grove Emergency Shelter, where her team serves meals three times a month.

Sister Rose doesn't do this work to be recognized. She pours her heart into every meal served, every jacket handed out, and every moment of connection shared, hoping those she serves feel God's love through the compassion and care she offers.

For Sister Rose, this isn't just outreach. It's gratitude in action. 🙏

Art is not just something you make; it's something you are.

At the Elk Grove Emergency Shelter, guests are not only finding safety and stability, but they are also finding something equally powerful: the space to heal, connect, and express who they truly are.

Each week, Whole Wellness Therapy facilitates art therapy sessions where guests paint, draw, and create together, building community, reducing stress, and sharing pieces of their stories in a safe and supportive environment.

Guest Dawn said it best: "I want people to know that we are human and we are many things, including artists."

Every Guest who walks through our doors carries dignity, creativity, and value. Art therapy is one of the ways we make sure they know it too. 🎨

When the ground feels uncertain, sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is plant something. 🌿

At The Gathering Inn's Mobile Temporary Shelter, team members and guests are building a community garden together side by side, shovel by shovel.

For guests navigating some of life's hardest seasons, the garden offers more than fresh produce. It offers structure. Ownership. A reason to show up and a reminder that their ideas matter and their efforts count.

Watching something they planted grow mirrors something happening within each of them too: gradual, steady progress toward a more stable and hopeful future.

This is Breaking Ground: Cultivating for the Future.

Because at TGI, we believe dignity grows when people are given the space to contribute, create, and thrive. 💚

When someone leaves the hospital with serious medical needs and nowhere safe to recover, every day matters.

Our Medical Respite Program serves individuals experiencing homelessness who are referred by healthcare partners for a safe place to heal after hospitalization. Yet the need continues to exceed available space, with an average of nine individuals each month unable to access Medical Respite due to limited bed availability.

After leaving an abusive marriage, Tammy found herself experiencing homelessness while managing serious medical conditions. Following a hospitalization, she was referred to Medical Respite but had to wait for a bed to become available. When she finally arrived, she embraced the opportunity to focus on her health, reconnect with medical providers, and establish the stability needed to move forward.

Today, Tammy is housed in her very own apartment.

Her success is a testament to what can happen when healthcare providers, community partners, and supportive services work together to walk alongside individuals on their journey toward stability and independence.

Reflecting on her journey, Tammy shared:

"This is the first time in my adult life that I have been in a home that feels like I am truly part of a family. My stay at Medical Respite has been a time of healing, clarity, and growth. I am NOT giving that up!"

Congratulations, Tammy! We are honored to have walked alongside you on your journey to healing, hope, and housing.

That's the Wallentine Motorsports way.

At their recent taco event, the team organized a drive to support The Gathering Inn because in the VW community, it's never just been about the cars.

When Tanya arrived at The Gathering Inn, she was carrying two heavy burdens at once. Chronic pain from a past accident that never fully healed, and the weight of losing her home.

Anyone would have understood if she had given up. But Tanya did not.
She kept her medical appointments even on the hardest days. She stayed focused on her SSI claim and pursued every housing opportunity that came her way. She built trust with the people around her and showed up for herself with a consistency that is truly something to admire.

That kind of quiet determination is not always loud or dramatic. It does not always look like big leaps forward. Sometimes it looks like just getting up and trying again tomorrow. That is exactly what Tanya did, over and over again.

And today? Tanya has been approved for public housing and is getting ready to move into her very own apartment! A home of her own. Stability she has worked so hard for and a future she never stopped believing in.

Tanya your journey is a testament to what is possible when hope refuses to quit. You showed up for yourself every single day and this is just the beginning. The best is yet to come. 🌟
