It's 8:46 a.m. Twenty-five years ago, this was the minute the first plane hit the World Trade Center. Within the hour, a third hit the Pentagon, just down the road from us, and eleven Montgomery County neighbors didn't come home. I'll be at Courthouse Square Park for our ceremony shortly. Last night's storms hit hard, and if your basement, yard, or street took on water, you weren't the only one. Montgomery County was under flash flood warnings as heavy rain rolled through Rockville, and our Public Works crews are already out assessing stormwater systems around the city.

If your property was affected, take a few minutes to fill out our storm damage survey. It helps us track where flooding is hitting hardest and shapes the mitigation work we plan next. While you're there, you'll also find guidance on flood insurance (most homeowners and renters policies don't cover flood damage) and info on our Flood Mitigation Assistance Program, which reimburses residents up to $5,000 for eligible property improvements.
