We had a spook-tacular time at Mini Creep! 🎃👻 Thank you to all the little ghosts, goblins, and their families who joined us for some Halloween fun. We had a blast playing games, making crafts, enjoying treats, and celebrating the spooky season together! We're already counting down the days until next year!

Today we're highlighting black-eyed Susan as our of the week! Black-eyed Susan has been the official state flower of Maryland since 1918. This iconic flower is part of the daisy family and attracts a wide variety of pollinating insects. These pollinators can include flies, moths, butterflies, bees, wasps, beetles, and sawflies. Fun fact: black-eyed Susans are pioneer plants, which means they're usually the first plant to grow after an area has been disturbed. Because of this, they are often associated with areas like old fields and roadsides.

Black-Eyed Susan (Rudbeckia hirta) is a Maryland native plant and our state flower.

The Halloween-themed fun continued at the Rockville Senior Center on Friday! 🎃🔬 Our Pumpkin Science class brought a little fall fun and discovery to the Senior Center as participants explored the scientific method using pumpkins!

Congratulations to Raj Udeshi on fulfilling his service requirement as an Eagle Scout Candidate!
Raj and scouts from Troop 1450 removed invasive and aggressive plant species, replanted the area with native plants, and installed a protective fence to prevent deer browsing. These improvements will help the meadow thrive and create a more vibrant and welcoming landscape for visitors to enjoy. We thank them for their service and wish them well on their journey to Eagle Scout!
