Laura Carter and the founding members of the Franklin County Community Coalition - Kim Jones and Christine Sizemore - spoke to our members at our last General Meeting about their nonpartisan alliance, which promotes accountability and transparency in our local government. Their work uncovering the “Project Flash” data center proposal and examining the planned rezoning (specifically the “chickens and bees” restrictions) brought them into the public eye. For more information on this formidable trio, visit their website at: https://franklincountycommunitycoalition.org/
FURTHER NOTE: A Community Meeting of the Franklin County Community Coalition is set for Saturday, October 10th from 3 - 5 PM at the Callaway Church of God (5185 Callaway Road, Rocky Mount, VA).

There is a lot of disinformation about the three constitutional amendments on the ballot: RCDC supports voting YES on all three to protect reproductive rights, marriage equality, and voting rights (don't guess, vote yes). Many thanks to Virginia Organizing for clearing up these rumors.

Two Franklin County Democratic Committee members (Suzanne Barron and Reed Dillon) worked very hard to design and reproduce the Rural Resilience t-shirts highlighting our resistance to data centers and their negative impact on rural communities across the nation. These one-of-a-kind shirts are on sale NOW and can be picked up at the Rocky Mount office at 527 South Main Street during our office hours or ordered online through Act Blue -- $20 for sizes S through XL and $25 for 2XL – an extra $1 if ordered online. The money goes toward our monthly operating expenses and will promote rural values and our concern for the environmental impact of data centers.
Office hours through election day: Wednesdays from 4:00 to 6:30 and Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
