Week 1 of early voting was a blessing, and Wilson County truly showed up with strength and unity.

This Sunday, I had the opportunity to visit Abundant Life Ministries, and the word that was preached met me right where I was. As this election season winds down, the long days can make you feel tired, stretched thin, and sometimes discouraged. The sermon, titled “God Is About To Give You Your Push,” reminded me that God knows exactly when to breathe fresh strength into His people.

I needed that reminder going into the second week of early voting that God sees the effort, He honors the endurance, and He provides the push we need at just the right time.

If you’re planning to participate in early voting, here are the two locations available in Wilson County:

Wilson County Ag Center
1806 SW Goldsboro St

Wilson Board of Elections
112 Douglas St

Hours: 8:00 AM – 7:30 PM

Your vote matters! See you there!

I had the privilege of attending Vick Cemetery: Remembered and Restored.

This event honored Vick Cemetery, a historically African American burial ground where thousands of individuals were laid to rest, men and women whose lives and contributions helped shape the Wilson community.

Long campaigns have a way of revealing the heart behind the work.

This race began back in December, and over the months, I’ve tried to stay focused on clarity, professionalism, and honest conversation. My agenda for this county, first released in late January, will be pinned back to the top of this page for anyone who wants to read it. It has also always been available on my website. That agenda has grown and adapted as the campaign has progressed, shaped by community concerns, new information, and the realities of a long election cycle.

I’ve never policed this community, and yes, I could always be more involved. Who couldn’t? But I’ve lived in Wilson my entire life. Thirty-two years here have given me deep roots, strong relationships, and a clear understanding of the issues people talk about when no cameras are around. The insight I’ve gained from living here informs how I see public service and how I approach tough questions.

Throughout this campaign, I haven’t tried to be ugly toward my opponent, and I don’t feel he has tried to be ugly toward me. But long campaigns create space for outside influences, emotions, opinions, and passions that none of us can control. I can’t dictate how people feel about a candidate or how strongly they react to certain issues. What I can do is stay focused on respectful dialogue and honest questions.

Asking a candidate about their intentions, their long-term plans, or how they envision the future of an office isn’t negativity. It’s responsible citizenship. The same goes for questions about community outreach, food giveaways, or whether certain efforts will continue after the election. These aren’t attacks; they’re practical inquiries that any voter should feel comfortable making.

Campaigns can get tense when questions are misunderstood or reframed as criticism. But questions themselves are healthy. They help communities evaluate leadership, direction, and readiness. Even in a long, drawn-out race, staying focused on clarity, accountability, and respectful dialogue is how we keep the process grounded in what truly matters.

I have plans for this community I call home, but I can’t bring them to life without your help over the next three weeks, starting with early voting on October 15.

God bless you all, and thank you for the kindness, encouragement, and respect you’ve shown throughout this long campaign season.

Northwestern University School Of Police Staff And Command.

Strengthening my leadership wasn’t something that happened overnight it was a deliberate decision. In 2024, I made the choice to step out of my comfort zone, leave home for ten weeks, and travel to Missouri to attend the in‑person session of the prestigious Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff & Command. I knew the program had a reputation for being academically intense, but I wanted to challenge myself and grow into the kind of leader my agency and community deserved.

From the first week, the course demanded everything I had. I wrote multiple research papers, built detailed mock budgets from scratch, and worked through analytical assignments that mirrored real command‑level responsibilities. The syllabus was as rigorous as any university program I’ve ever seen, covering:

• Budgeting & Fiscal Management — resource allocation, cost‑center analysis, and financial planning

• Personnel Law & Human Resources — discipline, labor relations, employment law, and internal investigations

• Organizational Behavior — motivation, conflict resolution, group dynamics, and culture

• Strategic Planning & Policy Development — long‑range planning, policy drafting, and implementation

• Critical‑Incident Management — ICS/NIMS integration, crisis leadership, and major‑event coordination

• Executive Decision‑Making — ethical frameworks and scenario‑based leadership

• Applied Research Methods — analytical methodology and academic writing

• Executive Image & Media Relations — public communication, press interaction, and maintaining command presence during critical incidents

The capstone Staff Study was the final test a full executive‑level research project requiring problem identification, data analysis, policy evaluation, and a formal written recommendation. It was the kind of assignment that forces you to think like a true command officer, not just a supervisor.

But the most meaningful part of the experience wasn’t just the coursework it was the people. I learned shoulder‑to‑shoulder with leaders from agencies across the country, each bringing their own experiences, challenges, and perspectives. Those conversations, those shared struggles, and those long nights working through assignments shaped me as much as the curriculum itself.

One of the greatest honors of my time in the course came when my classmates voted for me to serve as Vice President of our SPSC class. Their trust and confidence meant a great deal, and it reinforced why I had taken this step in the first place to grow, to lead, and to serve with purpose.

Completing SPSC in Missouri remains one of the most defining milestones of my leadership journey. It sharpened my strategic thinking, strengthened my decision‑making, and continues to influence how I lead today.

LEADERSHIP REQUIRES MORE THAN LOYALTY. IT REQUIRES A VISION.

I want to sincerely thank the Wilson County NAACP, Casa Azul de Wilson, Black Voters Matter, Democracy NC, and Down Home NC for inviting me to Saturday’s “Who’s On The Ballot In Wilson” event it was a valuable chance to hear candidates discuss what they hope to accomplish.

Once again, my opponent offered no topics, no priorities, and no plan. One would think he is not free to speak about his own plans for the office, given that he continues to repeat the same message he has used since receiving the Sheriff’s endorsement.

On December 1, 2025, he said: “I am not running to undo anything or change anything… I am running to build on his legacy.”

On October 3, 2026, he said: “I’m loyal to Sheriff (Calvin) Woodard.”

On February 20, 2026, he even acknowledged that the biggest challenge facing the Sheriff’s Office is the level of transparency provided to the public yet he has still not produced a plan explaining how he would correct that issue.

Loyalty is fine but loyalty is not leadership.

I have been clear about my intentions from day one. Wilson County will see a transparent agency that keeps residents informed. A professional staff built through better recruitment, training, and retention. Strong partnerships with local, state, and federal agencies. Active enforcement against drug, gang, and weapons offenders. A serious commitment to school safety. Aggressive action on detention center overdoses and escapes. Access for treatment professionals, mental‑health providers, and clergy. Improved training and humane standards at the Animal Shelter. And a proactive search for grants to reduce taxpayer burden.

These are not slogans. These are commitments. “We will” is not a catchphrase it is a promise backed by leadership, structure, and accountability.

Meanwhile, throughout this campaign, Sheriff Woodard has spent more time attacking me personally than explaining why his chosen successor has yet to present a clear, independent plan for the future of the Sheriff’s Office. Titles and rank mean nothing without vision, growth, and a willingness to improve.

Leadership requires independence. It requires courage. And it requires a plan.

It’s Time for a Change.
Bobby Knight
A Sheriff for All.

Join me in sending prayers to the Lenoir County Sheriff Office, their deputies, families, and the entire Lenoir County community as they navigate an emergency situation involving multiple deputies injured in a shooting.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured deputies, their families, fellow law enforcement officers, and all those affected by this incident.

This community holds a special place in my heart as it gave me my start in Law Enforcement.

OUR COMMITMENT TO A CLEAN CAMPAIGN

From the beginning, this campaign has been about Wilson County and the kind of leadership Bobby Knight believes public service requires.

We will continue to conduct this campaign with integrity, professionalism, respect, and a commitment to the truth. We will not knowingly spread false information, engage in needless personal attacks, or exploit another person’s pain or tragedy for political purposes.

At the same time, running a clean campaign does not mean refusing to ask questions.

Public officials and candidates for public office should expect questions about decisions, policies, leadership, and matters of legitimate public concern. Asking fair questions, seeking facts, and calling for transparency and accountability is not dirty politics. It is part of the public process.

When questions are raised, we believe they should be addressed responsibly and based on facts. When tragedy strikes our community, our first thoughts should be with the victims, their families, and everyone affected. Some things are bigger than politics.

People may disagree with Bobby. They may criticize him or question his decisions. That comes with seeking public office. Our response will remain the same: tell the truth, ask legitimate questions, treat people with dignity, and let the facts speak for themselves.

We are proud of the standards this campaign has set for itself, and those standards will not change.

Integrity matters. Accountability matters. The truth matters.
