On October 8th, Nash County Public Schools, Nash Community College, North Carolina Wesleyan University, UNC Health Nash, Carolina Family Health Centers, and SanStone Health & Rehabilitation convened for the first Nash County Health Sciences Roundtable facilitated by Area L AHEC! This conversation was designed to connect secondary, post-secondary, and employer organizations to increase alignment among health career pathways. It was a fantastic discussion with insights shared, clarifications provided, and ideas for future partnerships sparked!

Every Wednesday afternoon we have the pleasure of spending one hour on Barton College's campus with the Foundation YMCA of Wilson Y-GIG middle school students! Through this partnership, students get a deep dive into what it means to be a college student and learn about career opportunities in health care!

NC AHEC’s nurse refresher course is online and self-paced so that you can balance work, life, and your career. The NC AHEC RN Refresher Program consists of a 24-module, self-paced, medical-surgical nursing review and a 160-hour clinical practicum.

Dr. Jason Kimbrell is entering his fourth month as the CEO for Wilson Medical Center (WMC). Area L AHEC attended a listening session that Dr. Kimbrell hosted on September 23rd!

These sessions are designed to give leadership at WMC the opportunity to listen to community partners, better understand the needs of the organizations working alongside WMC, and help determine the community needs from the healthcare system to advance shared goals around physical health and emotional health. Additional sessions are scheduled for: Farmington Heights Church (September 29), Wilson County Senior Center (October 13), the Foundation YMCA (October 13th) and the Wilson County Public Library (October 22).
