Food scraps belong in the organics cart, not the landfill. Separating food scraps from your household trash helps reduce landfill waste and supports the creation of nutrient-rich compost. Small changes in the kitchen can make a big difference! 🍌🥬

RSD Facility Spotlight: Biosolids Drying Beds

These large, shallow areas are the plant’s biosolids drying beds. During wastewater treatment, solids are separated from the water, thickened and treated. A centrifuge removes much of the remaining water, then the drying beds help reduce the moisture even further. This makes the treated biosolids easier to handle and transport off-site for proper management.

Each step in the treatment process helps RSD protect public health and San Pablo Bay.

🚽 Do you know what’s safe to flush?

Wipes do not break down like toilet paper and can contribute to clogs, backups and sewer spills. Protect your pipes and Rodeo’s wastewater system by putting all wipes in the trash.

Cooking up something delicious for the Rodeo Chili & Salsa Cook-Off? Remember that fats, oils and grease also known as FOG, do not belong down the drain. FOG can cool and harden inside pipes, contributing to clogs, sewer backups and spills.

Help protect your pipes:
🍳 Allow grease to cool.
🗑️ Scrape it into the trash or a sealed container.
🧻 Wipe greasy pots and pans before washing them.

Visit the Rodeo Sanitary District booth during the Chili & Salsa Cook-Off on Sunday, Sept. 13, to pick up a free FOG scraper and learn more about protecting your pipes.
