A tremendous thank you to everyone that came out to support the quorum court Thursday night. We filled the court with laughter, hospitality, and community, rather than allowing it to be filled with bitter dissention and vile, vulgar harassment. That is thanks to the many men and women of Benton County that left work early to arrive by 4:30 to ensure they had a place in the court room. Men and women who drove from every corner of our county. Men and women who missed dinner with their families. Men and women who came with their children because they believe in a Benton County that is safe for families.
As I stated in my public comment, I was very disappointed in the way the evening was handled. After clearly stating that no one would be admitted once fire code capacity was met, our county judge, whom we elected to uphold law and order, dismissed the fire code he used against the 287(g) fund supporters last month. He allowed the capacity of the room to exceed fire code by over 10% so the 287(g) opposition could enter the gallery. The judge gave clear instructions on how he expected everyone to conduct themselves. The opposition didn't voice their gratitude for the opportunity to speak or show respect for the instructions given regarding public comments. Instead they disregarded the the 3 minute rule repeatedly, they shouted explatives and flipped off the conservatives in the gallery, and the attendees in the overflow room were yelling profanity so loudly the door between the rooms had to be shut to muffle the interruptions. Even though our efforts were sabotaged, our message was made clear: Benton County wants law and order.
This was a clear victory for conservatives in Benton County. No longer can the left claim that our legislators are ignoring their constituents because the left does not represent the entirety of the electorate. No longer can they claim the majority of residents support the Warrant Service only model. We plundered that talking point.
This was all made possible by the tireless efforts of the Republican Party of Benton County, the BCRW Benton County Republican Women the Benton County Young Republicans, and several candidates running to represent you across Benton County in 2027/2028.
If you were not part of this tremendous achievement but you wish you could have, here is what you can do:
1. Attend a Benton County Republicans meeting. This is how we organize
2. Follow campaign pages. When candidates get to know you, they reach out for help.
3. Encourage your neighbors to get out and vote early.
We made a clear statement on Thursday but we have a long campaign season ahead of us. Don't lose the momentum. Press the advantage. Make yourself heard.
