Leak Detection Survey

Rolla Municipal Utilities (RMU) has engaged Westrum Leak Detection to conduct a comprehensive leak detection survey of our water distribution system.

During this process, Westrum's technicians will use specialized acoustic equipment throughout our service area to inspect fire hydrants, water valves, and surrounding ground surfaces for signs of water leaks within the distribution network. The survey is expected to take several weeks to complete.

The purpose of this effort is to identify and locate water leaks that may otherwise go undetected. Any leaks discovered during the survey will be repaired promptly. By proactively identifying and repairing leaks, RMU can reduce water loss, improve system efficiency, help control operating costs, and continue providing reliable service at the most economical rates possible.

Journeyman Lineman Dalton Smith competed in the MPUA Lineman Rodeo today, showcasing his skills and dedication among utility professionals from across the region. The competition consisted of five events, including Hurtman Rescue, Egg Climb, Crossarm Relocation, and two Wire Tie/Untie events. Dalton delivered an outstanding performance, and we are extremely proud of his efforts and representation of RMU.

Also representing RMU at the rodeo were Electric Superintendent Eric Lonning, who served as a Master Judge; Lineman Foreman Dave Gorrell, who served as Chief Judge; and Journeyman Linemen Jestin Casto and Tom Carroll, who served as event judges. Their involvement reflects RMU's continued commitment to excellence, professionalism, and industry leadership.
