Yesterday, our Kindergarten halls were glowing with pink as our students and staff came together for a super special cause! 🌸

Our sweet Kindergarteners dressed in pink to show their love, celebrate recovery, and honor one very special hero—our amazing Kindergarten teacher, Lauren Simpson! 💪✨

📸 Throwback Thursday

🎓✨ Look what we uncovered in the archives! We found an envelope full of photos labeled "Class of 2010"—meaning these former Eagles likely walked the halls of GLES in the early 2000s before graduating high school in 2010! 🦅💙

From early 2000s fashion to those priceless elementary school smiles, we love seeing these snapshot memories from over two decades ago! 📸✨

Do you recognize anyone in these photos, or were you a member (or parent!) of the Class of 2010? Tag them or drop a memory in the comments below!

We love celebrating the deep history and tradition of excellence at the Lakes! 👇

Everything is fine at GLES! If you saw the SWAT team or Ambulance at school, they were just visiting our Pre-K students as we learn about community helpers!

📸 Throwback Thursday

🌿📰 Check out this awesome December 1969 Rome News-Tribune clipping from the GLES archives highlighting a community landscaping project at Garden Lakes School!

Back then, the Lavender View Garden Club teamed up with Principal Newton Whatley and Assistant Principal Bob Mobbs to plant 51 shrubs and 5 trees on our school grounds! We love seeing our community supporting GLES across the decades—and check out those sharp 1960s suits and hairstyles! 🪴✨

Do you recognize anyone in this photo, or does your family remember Principal Whatley or Mr. Mobbs? Tag them or drop a story in the comments below!

Our Eagles traded in $25 in Camper Cash yesterday to earn a spot at one of our absolute favorite PBIS celebrations of the year—PET DAY! 🎟️🏆

To earn that Camper Cash, our students worked hard showing what it means to be Respectful, Responsible, and Ready every single day. Seeing all that hard work pay off with tail wags, cuddles, and visits from our favorite furry, feathered, and scaly friends was the ultimate reward! 🐾❤️

📌 PET DAY HIGHLIGHTS:
🐕 Special Visitors: From playful pups to cool reptiles, our backyard was packed with amazing family pets!

🎟️ PBIS Success: Every student who attended earned their way there through positive behavior!

☕ Community Love: A huge THANK YOU to all the parents and families who brought their pets, set up lawn chairs, and spent the morning making memories with us!

💬 SHARE YOUR PICS! Drop your favorite photos of your Eagle and the pets from yesterday in the comments below! 👇

🚲💨 WE ROLLED INTO SCHOOL IN STYLE THIS MORNING! 🚲✨

What an incredible morning at Garden Lakes Elementary! The GLES Bike Bus was an absolute blast, bringing big smiles, fresh air, and tons of high energy to the Lakes! 🦅💙

We could not pull off a community event like this without our amazing partners!

🤝 A HUGE THANK YOU TO:

🚲 TRED (Trails for Recreation and Economic Development): Thank you for partnering with us again this year to encourage healthy, active habits for our Eagles!

🚔 Our First Responders: A massive shoutout to the Floyd County Police Department, Rome Police Department, and the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office for keeping our route clear, blocking intersections, and keeping all of our riders safe every pedal of the way!
It truly takes a village, and we have the absolute best community surrounding our school. Thank you to everyone who pedaled, walked, cheered, and kept our kids safe! 💙
