The Rome‑Floyd Fire Department is throwing it back in style for our 50th Anniversary of Fire Prevention & Fire and Life Safety Education! 🚒🔥
All October long, you’ll spot our department wearing these special celebration T‑shirts—a historic nod to the uniforms worn in 1976. The light blue shirt mirrors the same classic look from that era, and the design on the back of the t-shirt brings back the original department patch that once lived proudly on our uniform sleeves.
It’s more than a shirt… it’s a tribute to five decades of service, tradition, and community.
Here’s to honoring where we started and celebrating how far we’ve come in Fire Prevention & Fire and Life Safety Education.🎉
We can't wait to celebrate with you all on October 24th, 10am-6pm at the Forum River Center.

Meet the Department Monday! 🔥
Our employee of the week is Cathy Gilreath.

✨Your job title? Operations Coordinator

✨Years of service? 6 months

✨What ties do you have to the community? Rockmart High School- Bachelor’s Degree from Shorter University

✨What is your favorite thing about working for RFD? My favorite thing about working for the Rome Fire Department would be being part of a team that serves and protects the community. Even though I’m not an actual Fire Fighter, I really value being part of a team where everyone works together, supports one another, and has opportunities to learn and grow. It’s rewarding to know that my work helps the team operate more efficiently and successfully.

🔥🍂 THE BURN BAN IS LIFTED! 🍂🔥

The Georgia Summer Burn Ban has officially been lifted, but that doesn’t mean it’s time to throw caution to the wind! When burning, safety should always be your #1 priority. 🚒

⭐ Use STAR to Stay Safe! ⭐

⭐ S — SPACE
Make sure your burn pile has plenty of space from homes, buildings, trees, vehicles, and anything else that could catch fire.

⭐ T — TIME
Choose the right time to burn. Check weather and wind conditions, and avoid burning when conditions are dry or windy.

⭐ A — ATTENDANCE
Always stay with your fire! Never leave a fire unattended.

⭐ R — REASONABLE PRECAUTION
Have water and firefighting tools nearby, and take every reasonable precaution to keep your fire under control.

🔥 The burn ban may be lifted, but safety never takes a day off!

Burn responsibly. Stay alert. Stay STAR Safe! ⭐🚒

🚶‍♀️💚 Stronger Together! 💚

This morning, the community came together to participate in the NAMI Rome Walk!

We’re proud to stand alongside our community to raise awareness, show support, and remind everyone that no one has to walk through their journey alone. Mental health matters, and supporting one another makes our community stronger. 💚

Thank you to NAMI Rome for bringing our community together for such an important cause!
