National Fire Prevention Week Day 5. Be sure to have smoke alarms in every bedroom, outside every sleeping area, and on every level of your home. Make a family evacuation plan with a pre-selected meeting place outside. Practice your plan to be sure everyone knows what to do!

National Fire Prevention Week Day 4. Today's safety reminder is to clean your furnace and dryer vent. Lint buildup in dryer vents is a serious fire risk. A poorly maintained furnace can not only cause a fire, it could cause deadly Carbon Monoxide buildup in your house. A clean and well functioning furnace is more fuel efficient, saving on your heating bill. Clean filters improve indoor air quality and reduce allergens in the air. Keep flammable materials away from your furnace.
