🔒 NEW VISITOR CHECK-IN PROCEDURE

As part of our continued efforts to keep our students and staff safe, we are implementing a new visitor check-in system.

This new procedure applies to visitors who will be entering the building past the school office. Anyone visiting classrooms, meeting with staff, volunteering, job shadowing, or otherwise entering the school beyond the office will be required to present a valid, state-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license.

Your ID will be scanned through our visitor management database, and a visitor badge with your photo will be printed for you to wear while you are in the building.

📌 Please note: Parents and guardians who are simply coming into the office to sign a student in or out do NOT need to complete the visitor check-in process.

If you plan to enter the building beyond the office, please remember to bring your ID, as we will not be able to allow visitors past the office without a valid state-issued photo ID.

On Monday, September 28, a Roodhouse Police Officer (Officer L. McClenning) responded to East Randolph Street regarding a complaint about dogs howling and barking. Upon arriving at the scene, the officer investigated the complaint, which ultimately resulted in the arrest of two individuals for cruel treatment to animals (510 ILCS 70/3.01(a)). Both individuals were transported to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office for booking and were later released with “Notices to Appear” in court. We have continued working with the owners, who have complied with our agency and relinquished eight dogs into our care.

***please note that the charge is not evidence against the defendant, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. ***

I am requesting assistance from any shelter or organization that can take these dogs and help place them in adoptive homes. Our animal control facility is not designed for long-term care. The dogs need proper nutrition, veterinary care, and companionship. I have consulted with a local veterinarian and developed a care plan for the dogs that are now in our possession. We will continue to follow advice from the veterinarian during this process.

We would also appreciate donations of dog food for our pound. We currently purchase dog food from FS in White Hall. In addition, we are requesting 8–10 matching galvanized buckets capable of holding 2–3 gallons of water for our kennels, as the dogs easily tear up plastic containers. (we have purchased them from Farm and Home / Buchheit(s) in the past) We also need bleach, dawn dish soap, and OdoBan gallon disinfectant that can be purchased at Dollar General.

If you represent a licensed rescue organization that can take these dogs, provide veterinarian care, and help prepare them for adoption, please contact us at 217-589-4348. I will return your call soon.

Each year the city offers free city wide clean up in June. We strongly encourage people to utilize this free service.

Today, Superintendent Malin, the entire 👷 South Shop crew, and the Electric ⚡️ Crew stopped all projects to clean up two properties here in town. We want a clean community and we know community members do too! As we continue cleaning up Roodhouse, please have patience with us. If you need help, reach out. If you get a notice to clean up your property, please take it seriously. I ask myself would my kids want to raise their family here? If the answer isn’t “yes” then we need to continue building in that area! We will continue serving notices, issuing citations if necessary…but we hope those in this category take some ownership and address the issue on their own. 🇺🇸
